For a stadium tour...you're going to need some big names.  As cool as some of those smaller bands are...people will want a lot for their money.

No one has mentioned them yet...but how about Jane's Addiction?  The original line-up is back together and Dave and Axl have worked together in the past.

The Killers are apparantly fans of GNR and vice-versa.  And how about Oasis?

How awesome would this tour be?

Faith No More
Jane's Addiciton
The Killers
Oasis

The Killers recently had some negative comments towards GNR.  It wasn't too bad, but they said something like they deserved to beat them in the charts because it's their time now.  In essence, it's not 1992 anymore.  At least that's what I got out of the comment.  So F'em!

I don't think so, GNR deserves a Hard Rock band, no a Pop crappy band like Oasis or the Killes, If I were in the crowd, I would throw them bad tomatoes... hihi

It might work in England, but not in the US.

a lot of gnr concert goers are not as open minded as most people here.. they are pricks
in the history of GNR tours the only bands that have not been booed offstage are: skid row and sebastian bach band...
is like a trend.. they should keep sebastian and add a similar artist..

I miss the era of shows when a larger band would give bands with more of a cult following a larger audience, and the talent of the musicianship made everyone play better, and yr. turned on to new sounds; for the love of music...

It's a shame that crowds at GNR shows tend to be horrible to the opening acts that are unfamiliar to them.

                                                                            * * * *

THEORY: I wonder if GNR has considered headlining Coachella, Lollapalloza, etc. I believe that some of the crowd negativity comes from the ' I want to hear Sweet Child O' Mine' for the zillionth time set-- this and those who are obsessed with seeing Mr. Rose in person, and so anyone or anything interfering with that communion comes off as an obstruction at best.

Because Chinese Democracy has a potential wide range of appeal (as a whole I think it has more than little commonalities with Radiohead and others, as a concept album) why not have a set directed at these crowds?

Lastly, I think for this to work though-- would have to be a new media promotion including videos targeting this crowd and possible appearances on SNL, etc.

Even if this isn't considered-- the Metallica option is a sure shot, and there's nothing wrong with that...

Those are my worthless two cents in these dread economic times...

What is probably going to hapen:

Jane's Addiction- main NIN supporting act *see Nine Inch Nails*

Metallica- coming back and willing to tour with G'N'R, it'd be a perfect solution

Guns 'N Roses

Nine Inch Nails- if the NIN extends their tour, G'N'R would lose fans hoping to see Robert.  However, if Robert toured with G'N'R the same thing would happen with NIN.  Trent and Axl would beg him to play with them, in the end, they would have to tour together

Loaded- Axl never knocks down the possiblility of him playing with Duff again and vice versa, infact, they note it.  Maybe they have planned this for a long time and they are setting us up.

what I would like to see but won't happen

Guns 'N Roses

Velvet Revolver

Benighted

Muse

Coheed and Cambria

Faldor, that's not necessarily true. I remember tomatoes, bottles and other stuff were thrown at Faith No More when they opened for Metallica/GNR at Giants Stadium in 1992.

With Chinese Democracy out, Axl is playing new music to the audience, not the same old eighties stuff Baz has been playing.
