Make the Difference Network!

February 27th, 2009

Recently, Slash and Perla became members of The Make the Difference Network, which is an online social network dedicated to help non-profit organizations and charities get their message out there and increase donations. As you may know, Slash and Perla are very involved with many charities, including Los Angeles Youth Network, Haven House, make a wish foundation, and many others. We encourage you to take a look at their profile page featured here Click Here To View Now! Get involved and Make the Difference!

About Me

Slash and I have been together 11 years solid, but in each other's lives for 17. We were married on October 15th 2001, and since then have had 2 children, London and Cash. We happily reside in Los Angeles California, where we were both raised. We currently are working on personal projects, as well as raising our boys that are aged 6 and 4. Slash is recording a solo album, I am working on producing a project for television. We are also very much looking forward to our summer trip to Norway, where Slash will be collaborating with various artists for the Quart Festival.

People I Would Like to Collaborate With

People that share our passion to make a difference in the world.

Skills I Would Like to Learn

Fundraising Entertainment

Projects I Need Help With

Repairing the plumbing system in two of the LAYN homes. Furnishing and getting appliances for the apartments for the kids that are transitioned out of the group homes at LAYN.

Causes

Slash and I are very fortunate to be where we are at in our lives, and we feel that it is very important to give back to the community. We help out and donate a lot of our time and resources to charities that hit close to home, such as Los Angeles Youth Network, and Haven House. LAYN has been providing services to runaway, homeless, high-risk and system youth since 1983, and as of 2009 I became a member of the board of directors. Please check out LAYN's page on the Make a Difference Network, as well as their website LAYN.org. Haven House, the first domestic violence emergency shelter of its kind in the country, is a non profit organization dedicated to helping abused women and their children on their way toward a life free of violence. You can learn more about Haven House at HavenHouseLA.com We know that there is a big world out there, and that we have a lot to offer in the ways of publicity and help for these charities. We feel very strongly about being a part of charitble organizations, and also feel that we should do all we can to help others that are less fortunate than ourselves.

Nonprofits I Donate To

Los Angeles Youth Network Haven House Muscular Distrophy Association of America Make a Wish Foundation Various Children's Schools and Organizations Planting Peace Heifer International Hurrican Katrina Relief Fund Red-Cross

Places I Volunteer At

Los Angeles Youth Network Haven House Music Cares Los Angeles Dept. of Children's Services Muscular Distrophy Association of America

Other Ways I Make a Difference in The World

We recycle, and teach our children the importance of recycling and giving back to the community. Our children to regulary lemonade stands and bake sales that benefit the charities that we are involved with. Slash has personally gone out of his way to contact or meet up with terminally ill children whose last wish is to meet or talk to him, as well as performed at countless benefit concerts that raise funds for various organizations. Having been former addicts, Slash and I both have given a lot of our time and resources to help get people off of drugs and on their road to recovery.

Other Ways I Would Like to Make a Difference

It is a goal of mine to one-day start an organization that helps children that have been pulled out of meth-labs. I feel that methamphetamine addiction and production is an issue that has taken this country by storm, and the children are innocent victims in this situation. Being thrown into the fostercare system isnt the best solution in my opinion for these children. They need alot of nuturing, attention and love to help them grow and overcome the situation that they were in.

Maybe he manages without drawing attention to himself.

Good for Perla and her family.

It seems to me the older Slash gets he is growing up in the department of giving back.  I think its great he married a woman that wants to do such good things for others.  Good for them for atleast trying.  That story of Slash befriending the dying kid was the sweetest and saddest story I have read in a while.  For Slash to do that says a lot.  Maybe he is trying to give back and maybe part of him is trying to make up for lost time.  I commend him and Perla's efforts.

I'm sure some do charity work without making it public.

Perla seems very ambitious.

Yeah, it seems that she is the driving force here, and they have been at a lot of events lately.  Just in the last couple of weeks they attended The Black Eyed Peas Peapod Benefit, Elton John Aids Foundation Party and Leeza Gibbons' Oscar Night at Mr. Chow events.

People who tell the world where they volunteer at and whom they donate to are usually looking for publicity. If you really are sincere you wouldn't tell anyone about it ... unless of course the organization asks you to publicly campaign for them.
