If you listen closely I think there's a lot of blues on the cd. On some places jazz, too.

Someone said better was a bit like smashing pumpkins... interesting!

This I Love - Queen, and Freddie as someone already mentioned
and spinal tap Tongue and classical music. i still think IRS includes stairway in a modern way.  yes

For me sorry is the most mysterious and unusual above all.  Avant garde and primitive at the same time.

what songs of smashing pumpkins, A Perfect Circle and Pink Floyed should I check?

With the sprinkling of electronics I hear a Pop era U2 sound.

Something about the rythm of Rhiad reminds me of Badmotorfnger era Soundgarden.

This I love sounds like it is from Mama Mia!!

i like the song and I can seee why you associate this song with sorry.  yes
plus it has josh and Howerdel altho they left the cd project before sorry.

I still think there're more factors causing the outstanding wickdness/meanness to sorry .

To my ears I hear something totally new. They might be small bits and pieces that might remind you of someone but I think they produced this cd so that it's only identified by it's own particular sound. Just when you think it might sound like so and so there is a curve ball that denys that comparison.

I like the production of Caram and Axl, they brought a new sound to GnR and Rock music today. Instead of your same old, same old, they brought something fresh, new, and exciting.  Along with the band their amazing !

I can hear new influences on

- Street Of Dreams
- Shacklers Revenge
- If The World
- Riad N The Bedouins
- Prositute

and the list goes on...  This is truly a Guns N' Roses record of today's era.

Does anyone agree the "naaa-na" "naaa-na" vocals on Better is a tottally 90's Aerosmith-ian / Tyler-ish influence??

Talking of influences.

Isn't it ironic that people tend to focus on the fact that it's not your typical rock album? Meaning, they focus on the fact that there's drum beats, effects, samples etc.

It's probably one of the most guitar oriented albums of recent times!

There's a lot of guitars on the album and it's not like they're in the background either. From my point of view, that's been kinda overlooked....

After hearing Dexter say that's he's been listening to a lot of musical scores...I've started to really get that feeling from the album.  It's not your typical rock album.  it doesn't set one mood from beginning to end.  It goes through a lot of hills and valleys, which is much like that of a musical score.  Just listening to the intro of TWAT sounds like it could be the opening song to a James Bond movie.  Instead of finding rock influences on the album...I've started hearing cinematic influences...shackler's sounds like it could have fit flawlessly in with the Matrix.

The one pop influence I hear...that no one else has mentioned is Radiohead.  I definitely hear a lot of Bends, OK Computer and Kid A.
