I know , I know CD has just been released....indulge me.
Plus no matter what anyone says I know were already all waiting for the next album/s
So we know what CD had....and we all have our own opinions of it....wether its the old....i miss the rockers or the new....oh my god its so complex and visionary yadda yadda.
The question here is....what influences would float your boat as far as a new GNR cd???
for me personally.
Izzy : real simple laid back songs done well, with excellent structure and then built upon.....and then stopped
before the good aspects become too diluted.
Tribal music : more tribal sounding beats as opposed to the more hip hop stuff on CD
Johnny Greenwood : One of the best guitarists to come out in generations
The Strokes ( after they added the new guitarist) : the art of great rock songs done well
The Verve : the new album rivals the hugeness of CD at points, though its more organic and approachable
AFD - Sorry but a great album
Why people confuse this album with 80's mulletheads is just beyond me....most of it would stand up 100% today albeit with minor changes and more depth and bass in the recording. Anger passion rebellion and pain age well.
Thats my list
The next album Id love to see a mix of AFD and Silkworms/my world done really well.....a nasty mix of hard rock and electronica.......I think I may be alone here....but Id LOVE to see it done well.
Influences here
Orbital
Einsturzende Neubautin (spelling??)
Primal Scream
Too many to mention

Its a figure of speech.
I'll make it simpler for you.......
Whatever influences led to the the finished product of Chinese Democracy is what I'd like to see lead the band further. The music is already finished anyway so that was my way of saying, "I trust Axl and the direction he's steering the GNR ship"

I would like to share your opinion but I don?t . However I like the album very much but I don?t really trust Axl, he?s steering the band to nowhere with the way he?s dealing with the album promotion .
Sticking to the post , I would love to see some more influences of Pink Floyd and AIC in the new songs like it happens in Sorry , or some songs influenced by Queen like The Blues or CITR

I assume that the next few albums are already recorded and continue along in the same vein as
Chinese Democracy
(i.e. Queen/Pink Floyd/Old Guns meets NIN)- which is totally cool with me.
However... I would still love Guns N' Roses to do a completely dedicated accustic album (new and old tracks) at some point. I would also love to get my hands on the re-recorded
Appetite For Destruction
by the new band.

i'd like other artists to be influenced by GNR lol
if anything, i think GNR could use better guitar distortion in the heavier songs you know, metal-like distortion n all
in the parts right before n right after "I never wanted you to be so full of anger " in better, if they used a really heavy distortion, it wouldve sounded real cool
n songs like Rhiad, Scraped n Shacklers too
not that CD isnt great!

how to be guns n roses?
In axl's own words
Loder: This "End of Days" track, "Oh My God," is real, real different. Have you been listening to [or] working with samples and stuff a lot? Has your whole musical approach changed?
Rose: No, not a lot, no. Basically, [I'm] listening to everything that's out there as far as music goes. That was a big difference between myself and Slash and Duff, is that I didn't hate everything new that came out. I really liked the Seattle movement. I like White Zombie. I like Nine Inch Nails, and I like hip-hop. I don't hate everything. I don't think everybody should be worshiping me 'cause I was around before them.
So once it was really understood by me that I'm really not going to be able to make the right old-style Guns N' Roses record, and
if I try to take into consideration what Guns did on "Appetite," which was to kind of be a melting pot of a lot things that were going on, plus use past influences, I could make the right record if I used my influences from what I've been listening to that everybody else is listening to out there. So in that sense, I think it is like old Guns N' Roses as far as, like, the spirit and the attempt to throw all kinds of different styles together.
If you get to the second guitar solo in "Oh My God," Paul's doing a very Izzy Stradlin-Aerosmith-type riff in the middle of the song, which is a completely different thing than everything else that's going on in the music, but yet it blends. There's a disco drum beat in the post-chorus, in the heaviest section of the song.
We blended a lot of things
.
Loder: People that hear "Oh My God," they might say that, "Gee, the new Guns is all this sound," but I think that what you're saying is that it's a bunch of different kinds of sounds.
Rose: It's a lot of different sounds. There's some other really heavy songs, there's a lot of aggressive songs, but they're all in different styles and different sounds. It is truly a melting pot.
I go back to listening to Queen -- you know, we're still hoping to have Brian May come in and do some tracks, and I got a fax today that he's coming in --
Queen had all kinds of different-style songs on their records,
and that's something that I like. 'Cause I do listen to a lot of things, and I really don't like being pigeonholed to that degree,
and it's something that Guns N' Roses seem to share [with Queen] a bit. With "Appetite," even though it seems to have the same sound, if you really go back, you can pull all the little parts from different influences.
That's not really the case by the time we're on "Use Your Illusion." People are kind of set in their ways. ["Chinese Democracy"] is coming from all over the place.

Being influenced doesn't mean you're following somebody.
A lot of bands were influenced by the Rolling Stones. Doesn't mean they all sound like them.

Q: - the "next" album ,does it look like that one ? so different style ?
A: Not clear on the question exactly but I?ll take a shot?
it?s a lot more different styles than on this one
. As I?ve said it seems more like a double album to me meaning Chinese and the followup.
in any case, I love the diversity.
even happier, cheap jon?

There aren't much hard rockers on CD. however, Those few hard songs are quite heavier than the old material. Just keep that style it works for me. Next album should have more rockers than power ballads.
