More from www.billymorrison.net on the Jan 19 Sundance CF gig:

"A quick visit to the Blog for me before running out to get some food. We did confirm a Camp Freddy show at the Sundance Film Festival on Monday 19th January. We have played up there a few times and it's always a blast. Lack of oxygen + altitude + rock n roll = good times!! Unfortunately, Dave has previous commitments so he will not be joining us. And I miss him already. I will also take advantage of the winter wonderland and the many events happening that week or so, and I will be DJing on the Sunday night at a "Rock Band" event. I will give you more details when I get them in case you happen to be strolling down Main Street in Park City, UT at just the right moment!!"

Harry O's line-up!

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

Harry O's, the premier music venue in Park City during the Sundance Film Festival, will play host to an entire week of top-tier musical acts for the first time.

Tickets for all concerts range from $100 to $250 for general-admission seats.

Monday, Jan. 19: Camp Freddy (Dave Navarro, Matt Sorum) with Mark McGrath and Billy Gibbons. Ozzy Osbourne might come, but he is unconfirmed. The latest I've heard is there is an 80 percent chance he WILL come.

OZZY OSBOURNE To Perform With CAMP FREDDY At SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL? - Jan. 15, 2009

According to David Burger of The Salt Lake Tribune, there is an "80 percent chance" that Ozzy Osbourne will join CAMP FREDDY for the band's January 19 performance at the Sundance Film Festival at Harry O's in Park City, Utah. Other scheduled guests include Mark McGrath (SUGAR RAY) and Billy Gibbons (ZZ TOP).

CAMP FREDDY is the Los Angeles-based "jam" band featuring Dave Navarro (ex-JANE'S ADDICTION, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS), Billy Morrison (ex-THE CULT bassist, current CIRCUS DIABLO vocalist), Matt Sorum (VELVET REVOLVER, ex-GUNS N' ROSES), Donovan Leitch (son of legendary folk singer Donovan), and Chris Chaney (JANE'S ADDICTION, ALANIS MORRISETTE). (Note: Navarro will not perform with CAMP FREDDY at the Sundance Film Festival due to "previous commitments.")

CAMP FREDDY completed a four-night residency at the Roxy in Hollywood with another series of shows during December. The band performed each Tuesday during the month and each week played a different setlist with different guests.

CAMP FREDDY recently parted ways with Los Angeles' acclaimed Indie 103.1 radio station, which has aired the band's weekly show every Saturday for nearly five years.

Since its formation six years ago when they rocked the opening of The Standard Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles at the invitation of Brent Bolthouse, CAMP FREDDY has performed on both coasts of America and on national television shows ("The Tonight Show with Jay Leno", "Jimmy Kimmel Live!", "Late Late Show With Craig Kilborn", "Last Call with Carson Daly").

Fan-filmed video footage of Ozzy Osbourne performing with CAMP FREDDY on December 23, 2008 at the Roxy in West Hollywood, California can be viewed below (clip uploaded by "yohazy").

I would think the probability would be high. Wink

The Cult play Harry O's the following night so I'm sure Billy Duffy will play a good portion of the
set, especially with Navarro not being available.

I wonder if Ian Astbury will accept his standing invitation and get up for a number or 2 with CF?

Doubt it..

http://blogs.sltrib.com/sundance/

"The best night of music so far in Park City this long weekend was Monday night's Harry O's performance of Camp Freddy, a rock-star supergroup that played covers for 90 minutes.

I originally wasn't going to make the trip to Harry O's from Sugar House because I was battling a fierce cold which make my voice feel the way Tom Waits' voice sounds. But I couldn't pass it up.

The band's Monday incarnation was a who's who of rock: Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray), Matt Sorum (Guns n' Roses, Velvet Revolver), Billy Morrison (The Cult, Circus Diablo), Chris Chaney (Jane's Addiction), Donovan Lietch Jr. (Nancy Boy), Billy Duffy (The Cult), Corey Taylor (Slipknot), Steve Stevens (Billy Idol's band), Shaun White (pro snowboarder/skateboarder) and, not least, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top. It was great to get up to the stage and fist pump (although mine was covered in snot).

Here's some of the highlights:

-- Gibbons and the band launching into a heavy version of Jimi Hendrix's "Foxy Lady" that initially sounded like they were going to cover "Nookie"
-- Stevens playing the guitar behind his head during two Idol songs, "Rebel Yell" and "White Wedding"
-- McGrath doing his best Johnny Rotten impression when singing the Sex Pistols' "EMI"
-- The band dedicating a cover of the Cars' "Just What I Needed" to Barack Obama
-- Taylor screaming a manic version of Motorhead's "Ace of Spades," and then remarking, "I just had a f_____ aneurysm"
-- McGrath saying Robert Redford requested the band play Ted Nugent, so they played "Cat Scratch Fever"
-- The entire band closing with the Stooges' "I Wanna Be Your Dog""

Chefdance rocks and rolls

Chefdance, as I learned from its doyenne Bethenny Frankel, is Sundance's first dinner party, oft imitated but according to Frankel, never duplicated. In contrast to our visit the night before at the more elegant formal Bon Appetite Supper Club, Chefdance is a boisterous affair, the cave-like underground space downstairs from the Harry O's bar echoing with good cheer and table hopping aplenty.  Frankel emphasizes the eclecticism of the Chefdance group, saying this is not an A-list only affair and that they will let in anyone who wants to attend.  At Chefdance you will see, Frankelysays, a ski lift operator sitting next to a movie producer; a star next to a cab driver.

On the night we were there, I didn't count the ski lift operators in attendance but there was certainly an adequate celebrity quotient in the house.  Pierce Brosnan, Cuba Gooding Jr., Andie McDowell and the members of the band Camp Freddie were all in attendance; the latter invited in honor of the night's theme -' rock 'n' roll, inspired by the evening's guest chef, Kerry Simon a.k.a. The Rock 'n' Roll Chef. (Chefdance flies in a different celebrity for each night's dinner.)

The meal built inevitably, true to the theme of this year's festival, of a short ribs main course.  (My colleague Denise Martin also logged in from the Bon Appetite Supper club that she too enjoyed short ribs last night.)  It was the fourth straight night I had dined on short ribs, but Simon's, served on a deliciously sweet parsnip puree, were nothing to sneeze at and brought a fresh wind to my short ribs journey.

As the night went on, the high spirits of the room grew, building to a crescendo when a member of Camp Freddie noticing that the TV sets around the room were viewing cameras trained on the empty Harry O's stage, took the opportunity to get up and moon the camera.  Almost as significant, the dessert -- a chocolate and banana tart -- was accompanied by mini vanilla milkshakes that were as sublime as independent filmmaking itself.
