Ok here's a question for everyone. Many people considered Andy Pettitte on the bubble for HOF. He's now won 5 titles. Won more playoff games then anyone passing a sure HOF'er John Smoltz. Has clinched more series then anyone in history. Clinched all 3 for us this year. Do you think he's lock now?

I just saw the video, and from the angle I saw, he was trying to get out of the way.  As for it being .5 seconds before impact, you are aware that a pitch gets from the pitcher's hand to the plate in roughly .5 seconds, right?

I know what Rivera has done but man i have to pick Matsui for the MVP.

Yup, I said the same thing during last night's game.  He didn't get many AB's (13, total), but MAN did he make them count!

He deserves it, for sure.

And I think we can finally put to bed the "A-rod post season choker" crap.  He was, start to finish, the best player in the post season, IMHO.

Like i said earlier Pettitte does not know how to fail in this situation. The man is a winner period. This is his 6th clincher and he has clinched every round for us this year. Fitting.

I'd like to offer up a big "FUCK YOU" to all the NYC sports radio guys who were KILLING Girardi for going with Pettite on short rest.

I've been listening to it for 2 days...it's been CONSTANT.  Even some of the national guys jumped on the wagon. 

I get questioning the decison.  It's a story.  But the way they blasted Girardi for it was a bit over the top.

I think this might do it.  I still don't think he's a first ballot HOF'er.  But I think he probably gets in based on his post-season records.  But it's STILL not a sure thing.  The HGH scandal (much as I hate to even mention it today, of all days) might hurt him.

matsui has always been my favorite player from the yanks this decade. just like Paul O' Neil was from the teams of the 90's, So im very happy for him.

A few things..

No real issues with the MVP although Jeter or Mo would have been fine choices as well.

Pettitte a HOF'er??  Not sure on that one - the HGH thing will be a factor as pilf said..

As for ARod putting to bed the "post season choker" tag, maybe so (for now at least).  We tend to remember the most recent events instead of a "body of work" so I'll see if he can build on this post season in the future before I make any sweeping judgements. 

There's 3 or four guys I'd list as best player(s) this post season.  Jeter, Mo, Utley with Arod in the mix but not clear cut by any means for me..

A couple of more observations..

I'm sick of "3 days rest" horseshit.  Plenty of time to rest in the off season.

The first shot of CC drooling sunflower seeds was enough for crissakes...

Tex's postgame interview about (paraphrasing) "the Lord leading him to NY" was puke inducing.  C'mon dude, $20 million + a year got ya there buddy, I suppose "the Lord" didn't want you to get any hits either....

Girardi's about as cool as they come, said all the right things and came off sincere in saying them..

An entertaining WS, the 2 best teams playing with the best team winning.

His "choker" tag was assigned based on his performance from game 4, 2004 - 2007 post season.  Comprised a total of about 15 games (3 in '04, 4 in '05, 4 in '06, 4 in '07 if memory serves me correctly)....prior to that, his numbers were pretty darn good in the post season (with Seattle, and the 2004 ALDS, and the first 3 games of the '04 ALCS).

His numbers this year, alone, cover 15 games....or exactly the same number of games the "choker" moniker was derived from.

His CAREER post-season numbers are now pretty darn good...so if you're going off "body of work" OR "most recent events", he's pretty much obliterated the "choker" tag.
