ROBERT PLANT, FREDDIE MERCURY, AXL ROSE, IAN GILLAN Among 'Greatest Voices in Rock' - Jan. 2, 2009

According to U.K.'s Daily Mail, LED ZEPPELIN's Robert Plant has topped a poll of the greatest voices in rock organized by digital radio station Planet Rock. QUEEN's Freddie Mercury came second, Paul Rodgers of FREE came next while THE WHO frontman Roger Daltrey came fifth.

The only female voice on the list was that of Janis Joplin.

"The Greatest Voice in Rock Top 40" was compiled by the station's DJs, presenters and listeners, plus musicians, rock critics and experts such as Tony Iommi from BLACK SABBATH, Phil Manzanera from ROXY MUSIC and Ian Anderson from YES.

The "Top 40 Greatest Voices in Rock," according to Planet Rock:

Cool list.  I don't think Coverdale should be that high up, but he does have a great voice.

I agree with most, though definately not in that order...but I have one glaring exclusion: Neil Young.  Neil Young can't f---ing sing.  Sorry.  Neil, you are nice guy and all, but keep playing with your toy trains.  Everyone else on that list has some talent.  no

i cant take that list seriously when Eddie Vedder aint on there, fair enough if you dont like his music [though i think its great] but he can sing like an angel. Ever seen there MTV unplugged. Good for Axl though

IMO Seb ruins Gn'R songs when he sings with Axl, I know he's mates and all that but a great singer 'e ain't.

Sorry but Neil Young is a god in many ways, great voice ( that you either LOVE or HATE ) but you gotta admit its unique. Not to mention he's a guitar god! Neil should be #1  ok
