Hey they used my question damn it!
I would just like as much new music as possible.
Tours are cool and all but a tour would be really awesome after another album
Then u could go half new with half old.

The Los Angeles Times has an idea...
Jan 6 2009
After a great deal of thought, I think I have the solution to draw people back here. We need headliners of an entirely different league who could draw people to Vegas. That is a small and expensive list: Madonna, Guns 'N Roses, Bruce Springsteen or U2. These are just some examples of the sort of acts who could be more profitable doing 10 weeks in Vegas than Criss Angel will be doing 10 years.

I want a tour. I want to see my favorite band play to a rocking crowd outdoors somewhere in my vacinity.
Side question: Is Guns (current lineup) a big enough band in the US to pack a huge Amphitheatre like Red Rocks in CO or The Gorge in WA? It usually requires touring to these areas during the summer months, but is well worth it due to the venue.
Is managment scared they wont fill it up? They seem to play these types of venues around the world, but stick to areas here in the US. I'm really only referencing tours from 2002 to present, but it seems that way to me.
Why is that?

I think gigs are set up by booking people.
Promoters and booking agents.
Promoters want to make money on the shows, otherwise they wouldn't book artist X in venue Y.

Pretty cool idea, but not much use for promoting an album.
A world tour creates a stir (and record sales) everywhere you go. A Vegas residency would only really create a stir in Vegas, I guess.

Similar but different question:
Would you rather the band did a world tour, so you could go see a gig or 3, or stay at home with one special concert that they put out as a proshot DVD?

I would prefer a world tour.
Not only do I get to go see my favorite band, I get to travel and see different parts of my country/world even.
As for the DVD.....I could care less which city it is shot in. We still get Guns N' Roses performing Guns N' Roses songs.

Sorry, I guess I don't follow.
Gigs are set up by booking agents and promoters, I get that.
Promoters want to make money or else they wouldn't book artist x in venue y, I get that too (I think)
So why has Guns pretty much stuck to indoor arenas etc within the US? Are you saying it just so happens that it's promoters of these types of venues that are pursuing GNR?
Is that what you mean?

I'm assuming promoters book the artist in venues they think will make them the most cash...
I guess it's also about seasons. Last GN'R tours in North America were late in the year.

I'd love to see GNR in the summer in an outdoor venue. The last time I can ever remember them being here (Detroit) in the summer was the GNR/Metallica/Faith No More tour. Ever since then they've always played here outside of summer but always at The Palace.

I would really love to see them in an outdoor summer setting as well. I would travel to catch multiple shows especially if they booked venues like Red Rocks or The Gorge at George. I'm sure there are others, as well.
I think in the grand scheme, the North American leg of a current GNR World Tour would kind of be small potatoes though. I think they draw bigger crowds throughout Europe so summer festivals there are kind of a higher priority. But I can hope though right?

I think you're right and that totally bums me out. I can totally see many reasons why GNR would rather play overseas first and more often then the US.
