Rock Veterans Sign On For Fantasy Camp

December 16, 2008 02:01 PM ET

Gary Graff, Detroit

Former and present members of Guns N' Roses, Velvet Revolver, Yes, Kiss, the Stray Cats, Grand Funk Railroad and Alice Cooper's and Paul McCartney's bands will take part in next year's Hollywood edition of Rock'n'Roll Fantasy Camp, which will take place April 29-May 3.

This year's camp "counselor" lineup includes Duff McKagan (ex-Guns N' Roses, Velvet Revolver), Mark Farner (ex-Grand Funk Railroad) Bruce Kulick (ex-Kiss), Slim Jim Phantom (Stray Cats), Alan White (Yes), Rusty Anderson (McCartney), Teddy Andreadis (ex-GNR and Alice Cooper) and songwriter/producer Mark Hudson, who's worked with Ringo Starr, Aerosmith and Ozzy Osbourne.

Camp organizer David Fishof promises some "special guests," while celebrity chef Guy Fieri will prepare the opening night meal.

As in previous years, the campers will organize into bands and record an original song at Capitol Studios with Eddie Kramer, as well as play as part of a concert at the Whisky A Go Go. This year's camp will also feature a companion package offering music lessons, dinners and access to the camp activities for plus-ones.

Registration has opened at RockCamp.com, with a $500 discount for those signing up before Dec. 22.

You never heard of Teddy Andreadis?  keyboardist during Use Your Illusions era?

Sounds like a good line-up, anyway!

Not to argue over something as stupid as this but it says Current and Former Members of: and lists a shitload of bands.

The Current means VR the former means Kiss,GNR, etc etc  U gotta read past the first band.

It doesn't read: Current and Former members of GNR.

It reads Current and Former members of like a ton of different bands.

And another take on it... Smiley

Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp cashing in on G N' R craze

December 17, 2008 6:19 p.m. by Mike Burr

If it's reported that members of Guns N' Roses, instead of a member of Guns N' Roses are going to be at Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp, hair metal apologists everywhere are going to start saving their nickels. Sure, it's a definite that Axl hasn't suddenly decided to teach, but to say members of the band would indicate that two musicians who were in Guns N' Roses are going to be at Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp. It's a given with Steven Adler's troubles of late that he's not up to it, so the only definite choice for the camp would be Duff McKagan, who will be in attendance. Though he's not the most up front  member of the band, he would certainly have some stories to tell after spending thirteen years around the G N' R zoo. Speculation then turns to who else will be there, and hence the problem with saying members of Guns N' Roses. The other "member" is Teddy Andreadis, who is a fine musician, but mostly played some keyboards and percussion on The Spaghetti Incident. It's a given that headliners probably aren't going to be lining up to tutor forty-something novices through a song, but saying Teddy Andreadis was in Guns N' Roses is stretching the truth just a little too much. Better Rock Camp focuses on instructors like Mark Farner and Slim Jim Phantom, or even play up Andreadis' work with Bo Diddley or Bruce Willis.   [NME]

Duff and Steven Adler attend Rock N Roll Fantasy Camp, blog and photos...

Rock N Roll Fantasy Camp Day Two

May 1st, 2009

After lunch it was time for Duff McKagan from Gun?s N Rose?s and Velvet Revolver to visit the camper bands.  He is looking great and I could feel the buzz at the rehearsal studio about him being there.  After another look at my bands song for Tyler, it was time to learn and create an original song.  It is going to be recorded at the famous Capital Studios in Hollywood on Saturday.

At 5 o?clock it was time for Duff to do a Q and A with the campers at a theatre down the block from the studio.  He told jokes and answered the campers questions about his career. Duff is a great guy with tons of rock experience.  He finally got to visit my band afterwards, and we played the Beatle song proudly.  He said we sounded amazing and he loved the way our room sounded. Small but mighty I guess!

What was really interesting was the surprise walk through from Steven Adler the drummer from Guns.  We spoke for a bit in the hall, and he was of course really impressed with what he saw from his visit.
