Well, considering he's been playing pieces of Prostitute on piano live since 2002, and they played parts of If The World during the "piano moving jam" in '06, it could easily be something they played a bit of live

Interesting that he doesn't like Catcher in the Rye the novel.  I wonder why?

Can't remember, I will try to find it, someone posted it here or on another GnR site months back and they were playing something that sounded damn near exactly like If The World when they moved the piano (either before Dizzy did his piano solo leading into The Blues or after that while they were moving the piano back off stage, can't remember)

Maybe my memory is skewed but I'm pretty sure that they played part of ITW then

Well, from his Wikipedia page, "Jackie Chan performs most of his own stunts, which are choreographed by the Jackie Chan Stunt Team. He has stated in interviews that the primary inspiration of his more comedic stunts were the films such as The General...."

And as a side note. The day after I tell Jarmo I'm leaving the board out of anger and frustration, Axl shows up and talks. Alright, I'm back in the fan club, but I'm not happy about it. Betcha the ass did it on purpose.

Grrrrr....

I question whether or not The General is actually Checkmate, just because Checkmate showed up the same time as Catcher, and from sound/recording quality sounded like it was from the same source.  The General is a song that was originally created by Brain, so it seems like it must be from later than that.  Who knows, could be wrong but Checkmate sounds like it predates the 2000 lineup.  For some reason I got the feeling that Checkmate is actually Atlas Shrugged, because the Classic Rock guys said that Atlas Shrugged had Brian May on it, and the vocals/recording quality on Checkmate sound like the original Catcher leak

Nope

Here is what we know about The General

-Brain came up with the original idea for the song (that's from Brain himself)
-Marco Beltrami did orchestration for it (from Marco's website)
-Bach says it's "by far the heaviest metal tune I've ever heard Axl do, it's this slow grinding riff with these high piercing vocals"
