If you were called upon by Axl and company to fill in the available guitarist spot for the up and coming tour what would be your stage name?

If Axl called upon me and hired me to be his guitar player I would take the name Itchy!!!!
My fingers are triggering my guitar and they are Itching to play some lead guitar on all G&R songs (old and new) !!!!

So Axl give me a call and I'll audition for your band. Let's go out and tour the rock stages and blow away the audience...........my fingers are Itching to play!!!!!

Sincerely : Bitch Slap Rappin
Stage Name : Itchy   smoking

I don't think it's easy to join a band like GNR.

It's just not knowing how to play those songs  (cause most of em are real easy for guitar players)
it's stage appearance.
It's stage attitude.
it's stage presents.

I don't think Axl would Hire a guy who is unknown to everyone.

but I might be wrong...

What a show.

I'd probably call myself something completely retarded, like Handlebar or Butterknife.

Real easy that Finck butchered them nightly.  The Phrasing is key.... Slash isn't hard to cover, but you have to nail his "phrasing" which is more unique than someone like Kirk Hammet.

Whilst I agree that Slash's phrasing is unique, I think that the diffference between his phrasing as Kirk's lies in the difference in how their solo's are presented.

In the GN'R context, Slash's solo's were prominent, the band pulled back and the focus was on Slash.

Kirk's soloing is often less prominent because the other guitars and the drums don't really pull back as much.

Just a bit. Listening to some of those Illusions shows is irritating because you can barely hear Gilby, and when you can, it's a muffled growl...

... from the guitar. Not Gilby. hihi

I think it would be great if an unknown got a chance to do the tour. As long as you can deliver the goods. Hell I'd ask Axl and company if I could put my own twist to some of the leads to take it to the next level. I would play most of Slash's lead 99% for the ballad type of songs. But on the rockers were there's less melody and more shredding of the notes I'd put my stamp on it. Not to insult Slash in anyway but to add some fresh leads that will excite the audience. Live performance is knowing what chances you can take to knock the audience out. As far as the new album I would use the same method. Leads like There was a time I would play note for note. But on something like Better were it's shredding I would do something else. Again not to disrespect what was put down on the album but to put my twist on it.
As far as stage presence. Just jump and sway to the mood of the song and wear something that makes you fit into the overall appearance of the band. The most important element besides having long hair is playing your instrument as an intricate part of the team.  ok
