I am the Soul Monster of HTGTH

« on: December 12, 2008, 06:43:32 AM »

Axl answered my question when I asked him what hes favourite song was  beer

Gunns1: Hey Axl , whats your favourite song from either Chinese Democracy, or from an unreleased album?

Quote
Axl/Dexter: The bridge in "Elvis Presley and the Monster of Soul aka The Soul Monster (working title Leave Me Alone)" which will no doubt end up "Soul Monster".

I think it's r most Black Sabbath moment. Sang it on a Christmas eve. Imo the meanest section of anything I've sung to date. Which having said that I'm sure when it's heard others may disagree but we felt it was a Christmas card of unadulterated venom so to speak. I felt a lot better afterward.

does anyone have the information about Leave Me Alone which was the working title for this song?
does anyone else get chills reading that bit?
fucking pumped beer beer

I hope they keep 'Elvis Presley & The Monster Of Soul' as the title...that kicks ass. Mind you, the Presley estate might have more to say about it, depending on the content of the song.

i agree that is a cool title.

i doubt Axl would say anything negative of Elvis. i've always had the impression that he was an Elvis fan.

of course i could be projected my own views onto Axl.

I once heard a bootleg of Axl singing an Elvis song. It was Heartbreak Hotel. It was awesome, because that's such an iconic Elvis song, to hear it in Axl's voice. It was weird hearing someone besides the King sing it, but I loved what Axl did with it.

I respect Elvis but, I am a Beatles fan (Would help explain my unholy love for Catcher in the Rye). You can't really be both in the same way. What Elvis did to fuck them was ridiculous and petty. What a jealous out of control monster Elvis became. Kind of pathetic. But, he is the king. One of the biggest Icons ever so you have to respect that.

Oh yea  hihi

The scene cracks me up because it is so true. No one can be as much of a fan as one as they are of the other. You really are either an Elvis man/woman or a Beatles.

I don't know if I could handle that at this point, probably end up with irregular heartbeat or worse...I need time with CD!  Hell, when I read the part about Axl considering Cd 'double album' I almost passed out from sudden change in blood pressure.   hihi

Elvis was way before my generation, but looking at him in hindsight he was really an artist who was held back by his promoter, the Colonel. Kinda sad what happened later in his career, Col. Parker was milking Elvis until the very end, working him to death with all things considered.  If Elvis got rid of Parker maybe he'd be alive today.
