Seriously, some of youze really need to get over blaming President Bush for not apologizing for everything the USA does.  Roll Eyes

Because of Bush's war against terrorism in Iraq and the search for non-existant weapons of mass destruction, relations between France and the USA were "frosty".

Now with the new administration, relations between USA and the rest of the world (including France) are better.  ok

I haven't heard anything about this "French fries" issue, but the whole "Freedom fries" nonsense was among the most ridiculously childish things I've ever seen.  It's really amazing that adults are that petty.

The average American cannot see this. They're more concerned about feeding their family than what someone around the world thinks of them.

That's true in most countries.

It's only when your actions (abroad) affect the amount of food on the plate that people care.

Jarmo, Pres. Obama needs to make a decision on the money sucking daddy killing war in the mountains he is waging.  As bad as the world is and the economy, we can't keep bleeding, but if we are going to keep fighting, send more troops to help the troops there or get the fuck out.  I would like to see them "get the fuck out" because we need to rebuild our own nation first.  Oh well.  We had 15 more die the other day.  At what point is enough, enough?

Obama did promise to cut wasteful spending, afterall...  Wink

*********************************************************
The Future of Abstinence
It's been a mainstay of sex ed for more than a decade. Now, as the Obama administration cuts off federal funding, the movement scrambles for money, determined to continue its mission.

For as long as anyone can remember, McLennan County has been abstinence country. Nestled in the heart of Bible-Belt Texas, it's the kind of place where the local newspaper prints "In God We Trust" on the front page of every edition. "We're a very conservative community," says Jan Hungate, an assistant superintendent for the West Independent School District. So when the McLennan County Collaborative Abstinence Program (MCCAP) came to her a little more than a decade ago, offering an abstinence-only sex education program, she says, "It was the answer to our prayers. It was exactly the way we wanted to go." For years, each school was responsible for developing their own curriculum. Armed with the federal government's new abstinence-only grants, MCCAP offered to do the heavy lifting for free. They taught kids proper dating behavior, encouraged female students to think about their wedding days and why their virginity would matter then. In 2006 MCCAP had a $1 million budget, all from government grants, which they used to educate 6,000 to 7,000 students.

Today, MCCAP struggles to reach half that number. Its $800,000 Community-Based Abstinence Education grant ran out in 2007 and was not renewed. Then, Obama's 2010 budget did not renew the Title V grant program, the other major source of abstinence-only funding, which MCCAP also used. In three years, their federal funding went from $1 million to zero. "It was a definite shock to go from everything we had ... down to the bare minimums," says MCCAP's executive director, Tracy Cousins. He joined the organization three years ago and had seven staff members serving students in 19 school districts. Now, it's just Cousins and his bookkeeper. With the money remaining from previous grants he hopes "to maybe [serve] 4 or 5 school districts."

Buoyed by $1.9 billion in government funding since 1997 ($1.5 billion of that federal money), abstinence-only education grew from a niche market to a booming industry, with hundreds of curriculums for teachers to choose from. But if the 2000s were abstinence's boom years, the next decade may well be its bust. With Obama's budget for 2010 dropping all abstinence-until-marriage funds from the federal budget, past grantees are left uncertain. Congress could restore funding; the Senate Finance Committee voted to do so, 12?11, last month. But the measure must still pass the full Congress, where chances are slim. So abstinence-only groups are left hoping private donors will step forward to at least partially fill the gap. "The open question is whether these organizations will continue to thrive when federal funding is no longer available," says Alesha Doan, author of The Politics of Virginity: Abstinence in Sex Education (Greenwood Publishing Group, 2008). "What is the underlying support in society for this?"

You should be, it's ridiculous when governing becomes a popularity-contest.

And congrats on allowing socialist ideologies into your nation. confused

US House backs healthcare reforms

The US House of Representatives has backed a healthcare bill in a step towards reforms promised by President Obama, despite strong opposition.

Passed in a narrow 220-215 vote, the bill aims to extend coverage to 36 million more Americans and provide affordable healthcare to 96%.

The Senate now has to pass its own bill and the two must then be reconciled before the programme can become law.

Mr Obama has made healthcare reform a central plank of his domestic agenda.

He described Saturday's vote in the House as "historic", saying he was "absolutely confident" the Senate would follow suit.

Correspondents say the legislation could lead to the biggest changes in American healthcare in decades.

Naw.
The libs will continue over-valuing anything Obama does. And will continue to blame any of his failures on Bush.

I voted for Obama and hope that he succeeds.
But the thing that is really turning me off on dem and libs is how they seem to really focus on bashing republicans at every chance available. Instead of focusing on Obama and his plans and goals - they seem to get more joy and pleasure by being negative or making smart ass comments about bush and other republicans.

Turn on MSN, they still talk about Bush and Dick daily.  Every fucking day!  Especially on days where Obama related topics are not very good.

I was gonna respond . . . but then saw you have a picture of Iverson and that pretty much tells me all I need to know!!!

At some point Obama needs to start living up to all the "promises of change" that he made to get elected, and dems/liberals need to start talking about what Obama is DOING and not have their pat answer to anybody that questions Obama be to blame it all on Bush. At some point, Obama needs to take charge and this presidency be about HIM and not past presidents.

Not one fucking thing has changed.  The rich still getting richer (see geitner bailing out all his wall st. buddies as they all got bonuses) and the poor keep getting poorer.  We have exapanded our war efforts... (now fighting 2 big wars).  Still have lobbyists calling the shots.  Proposing a health bill the members of the senate and congress aren't even willing to use.  What the fuck is going on.  Reps and Dems are all in bed together.  We need a revolution and a 3rd party... NOW.  CAN ANYONE FUCKING TELL WHY WE ARE IN WAR IN AFGHANISTAN?  Other than to keep the defense contractors busy....  GET THE FUCK OUT.  9 years, 9 YEARS, looking for a man in a cave in Afghanistan...  And don't tell me we need to give a man with a goat in afghanistan democracy.  DON'T LIE TO ME!  Since when do we give a fuck about that guy?  And where are our Israel allies?Huh?  We bail them out everytime, where are their troops?  Rich people are still stealing from the middle class.. The middle class is vanishing..  We are so fucked.

The middle class is vanishing..  We are so fucked.

This might be one of the dumbest things i have every read.  What have the poor done for themselves to stop being poor?  Also the wall st bail outs only kept the financial markets afloat.  it didn't contribute to bonuses.. infact firms that took money from the government were not allowed to pay bonuses.. which is why companies like Goldman sachs paid back all of the money they recieved.. and the american tax payor actually made about 15% the investment.  Do you have any idea what would have happended if the financial markets were allowed to collaps?  while i certainly don't agree with the government interfering with buisiness.. it was a nessesary interventions.  and are kidding??? Rich are not stealing from anyone.. infact the people who dont work, have 7 kids and abuse the welfare system are the ones stealing.  "the rich" pay taxes and contribute to society.  they are rich for a reason.. if a person makes a million dollars they are paying about 400 thousand in taxes to support these lazy bumbs who do nothing but collect checks from the governement.  if you take the rich people who would support all of these people.  this great country revolted from britian because of taxation without representation.. we heading towards representation without taxation.

i've haven't really said anything negative about the president.. i don't really agree with most of his policies.. but haven't really gotten to irate about them until now.. this whole trial issue for the scum that was part of the 9/11 attacks is really grounds for impeachment.. never in the history of the US has a crime like this been tried in civil courts.. its always been handled in the military court system.. but this nut case who obama appointed attorney general.. eric holder.. is using this guys trial to push his own agenda.  See once this pig steps on US soil he is given rights just like every other american citizen.. can speak to the media, be part of the jury selection, call witnesses ect... the whole time the liberal media is going to focus on the fact that this guy was water boarded 183 times ect.. and use the opportunity to put Bush and cheney on the stand for torture.. not to mention he was captured on the battle field where Miranda rights are not required..  but in a civil trial his scumbag lawyers  will claim he was never read his rights.. The trial should be conducted by the military..  not to mention that the attorney general of the USA.. his law firm has defended 17 terrorist.. why in the world would anyone pick this guy???. why not pick pablo Escobar to lead the war on drugs.   if the guy didn't want to be water boarded then he shouldn't have been part of a plot to kill 4500 completely innocent Americans.   they should string this guy up in the middle of central park and stone him..  People were going nuts about Bush.. and wanted to impeach him and put him on tial.. for what exactly.. i'm not sure.. being smug perhaps..  but these clowns are trying to leverage one of the most tragic events in the nations history to push their own agenda.. its disgusting, discracefull and dispicable.  My heart goes out to the families that lost loved ones on 9/11.. and now they have to deal with these scumbag politicians using this trial as a springboard for their liberal agenda.. its really worst thing i think i have ever heard.  eric holder and obama for appointing him.. have just passed bin ladden and pontious piolate as number 1 and 2 on my list of people i would like to punch in the mouth

On Obama: So far his presidency has been a complete joke and his policies are a slap in the face of all citizens who actually love this country.  He is a clear cut socialist. Americans have lost lives protecting the ideals of democracy and capitalism and this man is doing everything in his power to undermine the capitalist foundations on which this country has prided itself on for the last 233 years.  His pandering to the Middle East and Muslim world is an embarrassment to our nation and a terrible message to our vets who have served in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan to sacrifice their lives to protect human rights, promote democracy, and avenge the innocent lives lost at Pearl Harbor and on 9/11.   If Barrack was even a novice student of history, he would understand that what he is doing and attempting to do as our commander in chief is in complete contradiction of everything our forefathers imagined when penning the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution.  James Madison's masterful introduction of "We the People..." has been completely bastardized by this administration and transformed to "The way others view We the People".  How about putting America first for once and forget about how the rest of the world perceives us?

The stimulus package was a scam.  Where are all the "shovel ready jobs"?  Every day you read of people (city council members, congress men, senators) that have taken money illegally...

The defense contractors, still making money at the expense of our troops...

Our economy still is fucking terrible... The banks are so greedy, they keep raising  my rates because they know "they can".  I used to only pay "prime", now they have installed a floor, and since installing that floor, prime has stayed the same, and they still raised the rates at renewal.  Trying running a small business, it fucking sucks and everything is slanted against you.

One thing we agree on is Obama has been very underwhelming.  What is taking soooo long on the decision for the troops?  Either send more, or get out, how does it take this long to figure out.  Has Obama ever been in the military?  Has he ever worked at a car wash or bagged groceries?  Oh wait, but he has a "Dream Team Staff of Advisors", well, who is in Axelrod's back pockets?  Who is influencing his advisors.  Some of those banks needed to fail.  And it was only AFTER the uproar the banks gave some money back.  Also I respect Ford now for not taking ANY gov't money... We threw all that money to GM, and lost it all.  Ford took no money and they have turned it around.

We spend our time worrying about a Mexican making some cash here in America or a guy stealing a loaf of bread, but nobody wonders how Kmart goes bankrupt, then comes out of bankruptcy and buys Sears... HOW THE FUCK DOES THAT HAPPEN?  Goes back to the Rich always getting a second chance..  Always getting the benefit of the doubt.

I am in the middle class, all I am pointing out is that we are getting closer and closr to just 2 classes, rich and poor.  I don't like too much gov't intervention.  I don't like different rules for different companies.  Our country is turning into a service economy, just like Britian.
