ACORN is a joke. good to see the senate and the house step up and pass amendments to cut their funding.

i love this line....

"On its Web site, ACORN, which was founded in 1970, describes itself as "the nation's largest community organization of low- and moderate-income families, working together for social justice and stronger communities.""

i guess that's true if you think whore houses make communities stronger.  rofl

If Obama were a republican, how fucking big would this thread be?

Obama "no We can't"

I think I got ridiculed and blasted before the election but so far I've called it dead on

Great talker, great with people hasn't ever and probably never will do shit that matters. Just look at his record in Congress.

I think even diehard Democrats are starting to step back and have some doubts even if they don't admit it.

Diehard Democrats are more pissed about conservative Dems in the Senate who have hijacked the entire process, not to mention that the filibuster isn't even an extraordinary tool anymore, but an everyday way to block the will of the majority.  As far as I'm concerned, Obama's real failure was in thinking he could get Republicans to be honest partners in government, when they're clearly willing to use the filibuster and tyranny of the minority to sabotage any of the many plans the President or others had.

Shouting down the opposition at town halls...threatening to require a supermajority on every issue...simply making shit up to confuse public opinion.  Shame to see that the GOP doesn't believe in democracy, anymore.

agreed. it's one thing to have Bill Maher criticize you on a weekly basis, but it's a pretty big deal when SNL leads off their show by calling you out for not delivering on any of your promises.

Wow, somebody who is pissing off the Right (surprise, surprise) AND pissing off the far Left...boy, don'tcha think that's the trademark of somebody just a teency-bit closer to the Center than the scary "Radical Socialist Liberal" bullshit fear-mongering nonsense we've heard spewed for the last several years?

and btw, yeah, when late night shows were teeing off on nitwit palin and ol' man McCain, they were JUST MEAN!  THOSE LIBERALS JUST DON'T STOP!  Perhaps those on the Right (yeah, that's you too D) might want to rethink that whole "liberal mainstream media" thing, eh?

Watch Olberman and Maddow, all they talk about is Bush's failures and how we need health care reform....  EVERYBODY KNOWS WE NEED REFORM!!!  I don't know a single person not behind that.  I just don't think people liked the gov't option.  But everyone agrees reform IS needed.

Senate panel passes health bill

A Senate committee has approved a bill to reform US healthcare, a key step in President Barack Obama's attempt to overhaul the system.

Senators voted by 14 votes to nine to pass the bill, with one Republican joining Democrats on the Senate Finance Committee in voting in favour.

Senator Olympia Snowe became the first Republican to back the proposals.

The reforms, intended to cut costs and make insurance more affordable, are Mr Obama's top domestic priority.

The president welcomed the committee's decision, calling it a "critical milestone".

"We are closer than ever before to passing healthcare reform but we are not there yet," he said. "Now is not the time to pat ourselves on the back... It is time to dig in further and get this done."

Why is it when Cindy Sheehan protests at Camp David or the White House while Obama is the Pres, nobody mentions it, but when Bush was Pres, she was a top story.  So war was bad then, but good now?  I don't get it.  Its time to get the fuck out of the middle east.  We are now having to "rebuild" afghanistan.  40,000 troops is a lot.  Of course, if they all come back, I don't think we have many jobs for them to come back too.

I haven't heard about her in a long while...well back into the Bush Presidency...and I remember stories about her protesting Pelosi and hinting at running against her for Congress, so I certainly don't think it's just a party thing.

But the real reason is because people approve of his handling of Iraq:

If this number was at 46 instead of 56, it would be a bigger story.  And, if he takes to long to get us out, it WILL become a story again.
