I'm not entirely certain you see the irony in that remark. I think you do...but I'm just not sold.

Its going to take some time to clean up your mess. It took you guys 8 years to fuck up the world, lets not be hasty and call Obama a failure after 100 days in office.
Right wing conservative ideas were overwhelmingly rejected. I'm not just talking about the Presidential race, that wasn't the only thing people voted on back in November.
let's not forget to blame the clinton administration for the sub-prime mortgage and credit default swap deregulation mess---yeah, bush invaded iraq on false evidence....
but the clinton administration set the groundwork for the housing, credit, and wall st. fiascos

Wow! Did anyone else see this dumbass move from the B.O. administration yesterday? Way to go! Give yourself a real pat on the back. What the hell are these people thinking? Are they this ignorant?

Drew, all of that's meaningless. You want important!!?? Senator Arlen Specter is now officially a Democrat!
That's right, #59 in the Senate...and guess what? When Franken is finally declared the winner in Minnesota, he'll be #60. While Specter will stick to some of his core convictions on some issues, this should make things a lot easier for the administration to cut through the heel-dragging.

Drew, all of that's meaningless.
Meaningless! So it's okay now for the B.O. administration to fly planes followed by a jet fighter at low altitude of NYC scaring people? Have you seen the videos? Did you see how many people were in panic mode?
Meaningless? That is a joke and I'm disappointed Axl4Prez2004. I can imagine the uproar from the liberal media and liberal Democrats if this would have been a photo op for Bush.
As far as Specter. Did you hear the reason why he changed parties? Because of the polls. Whatever happened to standing for something you believe in even if it's not the most popular idea or stance? So will he change parties once again when the time fits? Pretty pathetic if you ask me.

I think its fucked up that you can switch mid term. I just don't like it, regardless of his reason. People voted for him because he was a Republican. I just think its messed up because its you represent that matters and that district voted for him for certain reasons....

Drew, you know I meant meaningless in relative terms. We've got bigger issues going on than bullshit like that. Was it a fuck-up? Sure. Is it still relatively meaningless? Hell yeah.
btw, it wasn't a photo-op for the President, it was a photo op for Air Force One. Had the same shit occurred under Bush I'd have said the same thing. (and you know that)
On Specter, he didn't change because of the polls. He changed because the party-base is turning more hard-core conservative.
To S Guns, go back to the posts we all made after Lieberman had his change of heart. I know for a fact I never gave the old sour grapes line. Lieberman is what he is, as is Specter. When moderates are elected, there's always the potential for party changing. From what I know, Specter isn't changing who he is, just the team he's being supported by. The writing's on the wall, yes. The conservatives are driving away folks in the middle who aren't comfortable with hardcore conservatism and the "religious wrong" bullshit.
Right now, since the Republicans have no leadership of their own, the only thing they've got is the, "We're everything Obama isn't!" Rather than giving the president credit where credit is due, and pointing out the areas where they disagree, they're intent on just ripping the guy in charge and playing sore loser.
It's an economic crisis out there right now, and the president has a 68% approval rating. Not too shabby, eh?

Leiberman went Independent, that is fine with me, but to completely re-align with the opposite party seems disingenuous.

There is no constitutional role for political parties, you can vote against your party on any issue you want...why should it matter which party puts its letter before your name? All this means is that he'll now be a headache for liberals instead of for conservatives.
I think the move was almost entirely for electoral reasons, and won't have much effect on his votes. The REAL key is this: whether he votes with the Dems or not, if they can convince him to vote for cloture on issues he might oppose, then the Dems' agenda is golden. He can oppose card check as a bill, for example, but if he votes for cloture (i.e. doesn't stand with a filibuster) then that's FAR more valuable to the Democrats than his vote on ANY bill.

So now that he's an independent, can he go GOP? Or, more specifically, since he calls himself an "independent Democrat" how should it work? Does he have to become fully independent, then an independent Republican before getting his NRA card?

I agree that it was a big mistake. Not sure how much this had to do with the President, though. Is something as simple as a flyover authorized at that level? Does the Pres sign off on every single flyover of a ballpark on the 4th of July? Or of a NASCAR event? I honestly don't know, and those are just as likely as terror targets (think about a race...250,000 people in a confined space with limited exits...it'd be a catastrophe!).
Anyway, stupid to not make this obvious and known. Not sure it's to be blamed on the "B.O. administration" so much as some knucklehead in DOD.

Bodhi, you'll notice I said "now officially."
He supports embryonic stem cell research...just like any intelligent, rational person would. He obviously realizes his viewpoint doesn't fly with hard right-wing Republicans. The GOP's hard right turn didn't do well in '06 or '08...the writing's on the wall.

Obama is getting a big pass on this forum.
If Bush had talked about the Special Olympics, he'd been blasted on here
If Bush's Prompter went out and he stumbled and bumbled and waited for it to get fixed.
if the same thing happened with Biden, there would be 1000 posts on here about it killing Bush

The Special Olympics? Going deep into the vault for that one, aren't we? Not sure what prompter issue you're talking about, as I didn't see it. Your only complaints seem to be about little things. The reason Bush got flack for the little things is because he also horribly fucked up all the big things. So, yeah, sometimes you get a pass, if you've also demonstrated in other areas that you're competent and intelligent and didn't just get the job because of your Daddy's last name.
Now, if we've got substantive criticisms, I'm happy to address 'em.

Biden was honest, but fucking Janet Napalitano and David Gibbs are two of the biggest fucking idiots on the planet. Does anyone here hear these dolts talk? The ramble and rarely make any sense. They are NOT intellegent, especially for people that represent the most powerful nation in the world. The fucking Pro Obama press can't even handle their stupidity and they fucking laugh at them poking fun.
Freedom 78, atleast admit how embarassing these two are. Do you really think these are the best he could have gotten for their respective roles? I think he gave Janet the job mainly because she is a woman.
Also, I am not for torture, but this dirty laundry they are airing out is NOT right AT ALL! They were not in the position in 2001 or 2002 to make the decisions ones before them made. We were in a crisis, people make mistakes, but what they are doing now is not doing anything productive. All Barack had to say was, "we won't tolerate terrorism in this administration" and be done with it. I see no positive or "lesson" learned. The only lesson I learned is to keep family stuff inside the family if you have the choice. Barack is a puppet and was forced to air this out to make his supporters happy.

Why wasn't Janet Man Enough to come down tougher on the Swine Flu when it first broke? Why does she appear to be so Weak? Why do I expect you to say, "she seems intelligent and strong"? Ha. If we weren't such pussies with our border, we would be a healthier nation today.
