Because the far-right want to change the subject from them being the cause of this economic mess.  So they demonize Obama, Barney Frank, or anyone else on the left for the most petty shit.

They're a one trick pony. In other words, it's all they got.

How exactly again did the right cause a combination of Carter, Clinton, Frank, Dodd, and various others to decide that credit worthiness and/or ability to pay  shouldn't stand in the way of everyones unalienable right to homeownership? Which inturn lead to the crash of subprime lenders.

Also Barney Frank needs no help being demonized... After all the Distinguished Gentleman from Massachusetts was involved in a Brothel scandel when his boyfriend* ran a brothel out of his home.

Listen, I hate to tell you this, but you have no idea of what you are talking about. The CRA has strict standards and banks had to adhere to them in order to be part of the program. Period.

The loans that are failing RIGHT NOW are ALT A loans. In other words they are individuals with high credit, not poor or low income people. Furthermore, the majority of sub-prime loans that failed were given out by mortgage lenders who simply resold the loans to Wall Street as securities and weren't even banks in the true sense of the word. They sure as shit weren't affiliated with the CRA.

Jimmy Carter? You're serious? Why didn't Raygun stop it all after that? Why didn't the decade long GOP Congress not stop it? Why didn't Bush stop it all? How did the MINORITY PARTY force the GOP at that time to keep your conspiracy theory going? Think about what you are saying, it doesn't even make sense.

QUIT FUCKING LYING.

Hey, I'm not saying everything thats come from the left has been great.  Don't get me wrong.

But the last 8 years have been under the Republicans watch.  This is a fact.  You can't blame Jimmy Carter or even Bill Clinton for any of this.    Nor can we blame the current President who has been in office not even 3 months now.

How much money was wasted on the war in Iraq again?

And lets not even get into the reasons we aren't further along with alternative energy.   When things are being run by Texas rednecks who are in bed with the oil companies, not much progress gets made on that front.

I could give two shits who Barney Frank or you choose to fuck in your spare time.

Why do we keep talking about the past 8 years?  We have Obama now, no need to look back and set the bar low by beating Bush.  Try to think bigger and look forward, not behind.

Obama is sending more and more troops to Afganistan, how some of you left wingers are happy with this now is beyond hypocritical.  Barack can be good one day, he isn't a good president right now.  Lets admit and talk about how he can improve and quit settling for this shit we see now by saying, "the past 8 years really fucking sucked, look what Barack walked into".

That's the war that the rest of the world pretty much agreed was reasonable.... Considering where the terrorists were hiding/training.

Did you already forget that after years of "Iraq is the enemy and they harbor terrorists!"?

You didn't explain why he's sending more troops there?

Barack can be good one day, he isn't a good president right now.

based on what?

Dont' get me wrong, I don't agree with many of his decisions.   If I see something I disagree with, I have no problem pointing it out.  But he's been in office for only a short while so to say he's not a good president is pre-mature.

And yes the last 8 years matter because that is the reason things are the way they are.  I agree we need to look forward but at the same time we need to learn from history and from our country's mistakes so this doesn't happen again.

I don't even get Smoking Guns' logic on that one.

Reminds me of when people would bash Robin for not having any songwriting credits, even though they all knew he helped write Better.  (Before the album came out)

The man has been in office for two months.  Things are already looking up.

One thing I do like, is that our President is overseas and hasn't been making our country look like a bunch of backwoods hicks.     That in itself is huge change we can believe in.

You guys misunderstood, we don't know if he is good yet.  Still unproven.  We don't know outcome of decisions yet.  So its too early to call either way.  I was saying with more time and experiece he can be good, but to just assume all is good right now, or all is bad is not fair or logical at this juncture.

Because that is where they should have been 8 friggin' years ago!  Instead, we blew up a few caves and camels and moved on to a war we never belonged in.

Seriously, do YOU even believe the nonsense you type?

Actually, Bill Mahr, Maddow, and Olbermann are against the surge as well.  I agree, we need to defeat them, but the problem is in Pakistan as far as Al Queda, Afganistan for Taliban.  But the Taliban didn't blow us up on 911, Al Queda did, so now we are back in an Iraq type thing fighting people that didn't plan the attacks.  Those people are in PAKISTAN, but we can't go there because that is a Sovergien nation.  So who the hell knows?

Wrong, Bin Laden is in Pakistan.  Not Afganistan.

Bin Laden may or may not be in Pakistan but Afganistan is where terrorists were/are hiding and training just as much, if not more, than in Pakistan.

That being said, if we waited on the rest of the world to agree on what is or isn't reasonable then IMO the terrorists would have a stronghold in a lot more places around the world.

I had to laugh when I read this because every time I see them on t.v., I think to myself .. oy vey, what are Jethro and Elly May Clampett up to now?

Why do we keep talking about the past 8 years?

Pretty funny considering you guys are actually blaming the credit crisis on every Democrat that predated Bush, all the way back to fucking Jimmy Carter. Like I said earlier, shameless hypocrites.

The past eight years gave us what you see today: An economy in ruin and the Iraq disaster. How can we not talk about it?

We have Obama now, no need to look back and set the bar low by beating Bush.  Try to think bigger and look forward, not behind.

How exactly again did the right cause a combination of Carter, Clinton, Frank, Dodd, and various others to decide that credit worthiness and/or ability to pay  shouldn't stand in the way of everyones unalienable right to homeownership? Which inturn lead to the crash of subprime lenders.

Now THAT'S funny. All patently ignorant and false, but funny none the less.

Obama is sending more and more troops to Afganistan, how some of you left wingers are happy with this now is beyond hypocritical.

How is it hypocritical? He is sending troops to finish a half assed job. One that would probably be done now if it weren't for going into Iraq. Bush left where the terrorists WERE and went where the terrorists WERE NOT. It's not like those voting for Obama weren't aware of his intentions. He made them quite clear.

Barack can be good one day, he isn't a good president right now.  Lets admit and talk about how he can improve and quit settling for this shit we see now by saying, "the past 8 years really fucking sucked, look what Barack walked into".

Admit what? You're stupid shit about Ipods?

Some of you would be willing to cut off your nose to spite your face here.

Obama is pissing off those on the right as well as the left, to me that says what he is doing is right.
