Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin criticized Obama for the gaffe, calling it ?degrading,? especially since it was ?coming from the most powerful position in the world,? according to McClatchy Newspapers. Palin, whose son, Trig, was born with Down syndrome last year, appeared in a video promoting this year?s winter Special Olympics games in Boise, Idaho.
?These athletes overcome more challenges, discrimination and adversity than most of us ever will,? Palin said. ?By the way, these athletes can outperform many of us and we should be proud of them. I hope President Obama?s comments do not reflect how he truly feels about the special needs community.?
Call me crazy, but I can't think of much more degrading than to be hauled on stage in my infancy as a part of an ideological display.
That said, Obama said something dumb and immediately called the head of the special Olympics to apologize...movin' on, now.

You are wrong, most everyday Americans have a much better NCAA bracket than Obama. He picked a lot of losers, much like his Cabinet.
I'm not talking a thing about his sports picks you stooge.

To all the righties enjoying the fallout over Obama's joke, just remember, one party supports funding social programs that benefit the handicapped and disabled...and it sure as fuck isn't the Republican Party.
I've got a relative with a special needs child. The kid is in public school and gets all sorts of therapeutic intervention.....on the taxpayers' dime. My relative will be the first person to shout about the welfare fucks leeching off the system...but when it's his family in need, not a word. It's called hypocrisy.

Indeed. I have a family friend with a moderately mentally handicapped son, and they get a lot of help from (I think) social security to manage his care. Granted, that's not to say that it makes it easy, but I'm happy to say that we do not just leave these families on their own with this enormous responsibility. He's a great kid, very kind, always smiling, and he loves watching the local high school football and basketball games, and if a little of my tax money goes to help people like him I consider it well worth it.
Branching off, I think that many people don't realize about the many and varied used of social security money. Families where a parent dies while the kids are still minors receive money until those children reach 18, also. It's far from JUST a program to supplement retirement.

Guys, you have me all wrong, I am an equal hater in this... Its just that now Obama is the Pres, so I focus on him now. Gibbs is the worst Pres. Sec. ever. He is a smart alec punk that was raised in Auburn, AL, thank God he went to NC State and not my fine University, he would be an embarrassment.
Nancy Pelosi is a fucking twat that has caused a lot of problems.
Timmy needs to leave, he is in bed with these fucks, open your eyes.
And what the fuck, we are now ignoring immigration..................................................................
Right now its a cluster fuck, when the dust settles, we may be okay, bur right now looks rough.

On the bright side, at least smart alec punk is no longer a role primarily assumed by the President.

Holy shit! Freedom, we're onto your code-writing. Interesting.
btw, I'm not a fan of Gibbs. Also, while Pelosi comes across like fingernails on a chalkboard, I think she means well.
Yes Freedom, yes. That is exactly how I want my tax money spent. "Compassionate conservatism" is a wonderful thought, but without funding, it's just empty.

Why does Buffett, an Obama advisor, suggest he narrow his focus?
Please advise.

Warren feels that Obama is overloading it and should be more methodical since so much of this stuff is tied together and he would have greater success trying to implement his policy that way. Now people think he may be getting ready to try and shove policy down their throats why nobody is looking because he has so much going on it diverts attention. Warren is old school like that. I bet Buffet makes a chart or matrix that prioritizes every major decision he makes and works in that order because the result of some decisions can effect your next decision. Doing everything at one time is more of a gamble because you may not be fully aware of the impact and it may negatively affect you next decision (ex. budget for healthcare or something).

While no one is looking? Obama was elected on issue like health care, energy, etc...how can we be surprised if he pursues those issues?

Like how we voted on a 1,200 + page bill in just a few hours? We really thought that one through........ So now SLC hates Buffet, one of Obama's biggest supporters....

You mean the conference bill? As in...it had already passed both houses, but in slightly different forms?
I'm much less bothered by that than by the quality of the bill itself.
