Look, I thought with Obama we wanted him about as liberal as Clinton. From the stuff out there on the table, Clinton looks like Pat Buchanon.
First, this piece of shit he wants for head of Treasury needs to be voted down. I can't beleive that is who he picked.
Second, what the hell is this transgender rights bullshit he is pushing in his white house message?
Third, there seems to be a push for him to take the power away from the states and have a national law on the gay marriage.....
There seems to be some things coming out that were not discussed during election. I hope a lot of this is just "talk".

like what? I think the President was pretty clear what he intends to do. Look at the agenda on whitehouse.gov.

Fox News will show us the other side of things much like MSNBC did in the past with Bush. The Gitmo thing is all talk, nothing is going to happen there for quite some time.
Obviously Bill O'Reilly will keep using scare tactics to invoke fear in the dumb and uninformed. Thats what he does.

Not sure if you've heard about this concept here in America. We ALL have equal rights, even if they are people you deem not worthy.

Clinton was largely constrained by a GOP Congress.
What's so threatening about transgender rights? I don't even know what message you're talking about, but what threat is it to you or anyone else? Irrational fear like this makes me think some people had a trip to Thailand that they'd rather not talk about.
As for gay marriage, if it's found to be unconstitutional then that's that. Why do conservatives stand up for states rights so long as states are doing something they like, but never when the states do something that's not conservative? When I see conservatives standing up for California's right to its own medical marijuana laws or, to point out the obvious, hypocritical flip side, the rights of states to legalize same sex marriages, then I'll believe they're serious about states rights. But that's not how it is. When a STATE legalizes gay marriage, it's because of "radical activist judges". When a state makes it illegal, it's "democracy in action".
Personally, I think a lot of government
should
be devolved to the states, though likely with grants and such...after all, if the national government dropped the income tax to a very low level then what self-interested state politician in his/her right mind would raise state income taxes to fund those programs? Not gonna happen. Thus, grants.

I agree 100%. However, I didn't see you criticize the same people that never gave Bush any chance to succeed. I saw far more people on the left wishing Bush to fail than I have seen from the right wish Obama to fail. That is just my perception.
Which, I'm sure you'll admit, is influenced by your own bias.
IF I had ever seen anyone actively hoping the president would fail, I would have criticized them. I don't recall every hearing anyone directly do so. Can you kindly point me to one..since you seem to remember "seeing" people do it?
Quote
No, that is opinion. Sure we face a lot of problems -- and I think Bush made a lot of mistakes -- but the fault isn't as clear cut as you make it sound.
No, it's not. The fact is: We're worse off now than when he took office. You can't really argue with that. YOU can apologize for him til you're blue in the face and say it's not his fault. But there's a famous addage: 'The buck stops here". You can't simultaneously assign credit for "Good" and then shrug off the blame for the "bad". You just can't have it both ways.
What I think is ironic is that you first assert that no one would give Bush ANY credit for the "good" he did while in office. I did that. Then, it turns out, that in actuality it is you who won't own up to the "bad".
What you're espousing, in your post above, is the opinion. The facts are the facts...and I guess we've come down to the FACT you DO want to bury your head in the sand in relation to the Bush presidency. Fair enough.

I think some of you may be missing an important point...those held at the prison camp at Gitmo are BAD operators. These are not bank robbers, or drug dealers who can be 'rehabilitated' and returned to society. These are enemy combatants, and 'unlawful' ones at that. We did not have a facility to handle these people...and one had to be quickly built. I don't care who is in the White House, you cannot just tag & release these people...unless of course by 'tag' you mean plant a subdermal GPS tracking device, and by release you mean send 'home' so we can find their nest, and remove it. How many of these terrorists have been released to their home nations, and end up right back in Iraq/Afghanistan/Pakistan planting bombs at schoolhouses, police stations, and in markets?
What is really so bad about having this prison camp in Gitmo, besides the unfortunate troops that get stuck babysitting a bunch of overfed, nasty, spitting, shit-tossing murderers? Heck, the 60+ that were 'not so bad' that we released ended up right back on the battlefield, trying to kill innocent people, our troops, and themselves.
If I were Obama, I would put them all on a flight to Leavenworth to please those who care, but have the pilot bail out and send the plane into the gulf at 500mph, with 'mechanical' problems. Problem solved, everybody comes out a winner.
I think people are seriously misunderstanding what closing Gitmo really means for the people being held there. It does NOT necessarily mean they will all be shipped back home and let off the hook.
What it means is they won't be left "hanging" in a prison camp NOT on US shores, that has zero accountability or impetus to actually bring charges or cases against these people. That, combined with the worldwide PR nightmare that is Gitmo (and yes, it DOES matter when your goal is to reestablish your global relationships) is a pretty darn good reason to close it as a prison camp.
The enemy combatants you're talking about will have their cases reviewed, on a prisoner by prisoner basis. If there is evidence, they'll be charged and "released" into the US justice system. Contrary to popular belief, there ARE facilites on US soil equipped to deal with these folks. Maybe not "en masse", but when dealing with a federal court system....they don't all HAVE to go to one facility. They can be distributed to various US Supermax facilites.
If there's no evidence...really, what would you have us do? Hold them indefinitely? On what grounds?
As for the "60+" assertion, I've seen various numbers thrown around by the former administration. None of them corroborated, and none of them consistent (they would increase, then decrease, then increase, then decrease again...depending on the report). It also begs the question: Were they enemy combantants BEFORE they came to Gitmo? Or did they join the fighting, after the way they were treated, leave, and head out to "avenge" their mistreatment. I'm not saying that's the case...I have no proof one way or the other. I'm just saying it might be logical to expect at least SOME of that.
All we know is that there wasn't enough evidence for them to be convicted, or charged, by a MILITARY TRIBUNAL (typically, far less evidence than what is required in a US court of Law). IMHO, I think that says an awful lot.

The bucks gotta stop somewhere. ^
Guess we could always blame Clinton, he should have had the foresight to see this all (including 9-11), but on the other hand it's ridiculous to ask the sitting president to predict such things, or even fathom what is happening at that time.

Jim Bob, how can you like a guy that only decided to pay his taxes AFTER he became a contender for this position? How would you or I be viewed in this situation. Jesus, can he not find a guy that his fucking honest enough to pay his own fucking taxes? I didn't make this up and there are democrats pissed off too. The guy looks like a lying weasle.
About the transgender deal, what rights do they currently not have? Its about their employment rights and how they have the right to go from a male to female and back and fourth. What the fuck. Is this really a big enough issue to make a special rule for? I bet you there are less than 50,000 transgender people in the whole US. Why not talk about rights of mentally retarded. Why even bring this shit up. I want everyone treated the same, just seems like pandering to someone. Its not gay rights, its rights. Its not abortion rights. Its hey, today I want a pussy, or tomorrow I want a dick rights.. Which by the way, THEY ALREADY HAVE THE RIGHT TO DO WHAT THE FUCK THEY WANT. I just didn't know there was this huge outcry. WHY WASTE TIME ON THIS TRIVIAL SHIT WITH OUR COUNTRY IN THE ECONOMIC STATE IT IS IN.
Also, why is he dead set on going after parts of the media, like Rush? You need oposition. I didn't mind Olbermann, why do they mind Rush? Fucking horseshit.

dude Rush goes after HIM and has been attacking him unfairly for the last couple years. Obama never even mentioned that limp dick clown's name until the other day when all he said was Republicans need to not listen to him if they want to get things done.. and he is right. Its time to put that partisan bullshit aside, the republicans lost big this last election. Its time to try new shit.
Rush wants Obama to fail, meaning he wants America to continue to decline for the next 4 years all so he can say "I told you so".
This isn't a fucking game.

Kind of like Keith Olbermann. You need to hear both sides, i don't give a fuck if its rush or me, shutting it our so everyone agrees is NEVER the best thing to do.
