Actually Axl's 1st public thanks to Paul was 01/01/01 in Vegas...
B-Foot is my fav., but I'm not sure how much o' CD he played on..He did state that he dirtied the album up because it was to robotic, so co-MVP would go to the tandum of Fink N' B-Foot....But it appears Chris Pitmann co-wrote quite a bit......and those keyboard sound effects are monster..How can we 4get Dizzy N' the General Stinson...

I'd go with Finck. I never figured a (former?) Nine Inch Nails guitarist could make the adjustment to a more melodic band, but he fit in quite well.

Pitman. He adds a lot of  the depth to CD.

Out of the shadows, into...Hell?

« Reply #26 on: December 04, 2008, 07:07:50 PM »

Axl.  Everyone else can be replaced, and someone trained to passably imitate them...find someone who sounds like Axl.  Writes like Axl?  Works a croud into a frenzy like Axl?  This in no way denigrates the achievements of the rest of the band.  The album is awesome because of 8-12 guys...but those 8-12 guys wouldnt be there if it were not for Axl.

Musicians who appear on the album?  Bucket (who largely defines the guitar sound of the album), followed by Pitman.

Anyone involved in the album?  Management, for making sure that I get to hold it in my hands right now.     beer

I didn't have time to elaborate in my earlier post because I was at work, but I'll say it again: Dizzy Fucking Reed. Co-wrote Street of Dreams, There Was A Time (IMO best song on the album) and I.R.s.

He stayed with Axl throughout the whole thing. Which I'm sure Axl greatly appreciated. He's just one hell of a musician too. Check out his new solo stuff on his site.

He played the Chinese Democracy release party at the Hard Rock here in Vegas. He mentioned how proud he was of the album, because the band poured their heart and soul into it.

All around great guy.

BTW: I'll post pictures from the show when I get them developed. I bought a disposable camera because I wasn't sure if I could bring one in. He also signed my copy of Chinese Democracy and told the crowd that that was the first one he's signed Smiley

Dizzy and Chris were probably the biggest surprises when looking at the credits.   Honorable mention to Paul Tobias.

But I don't really think there is an MVP, every guy played his role and added something special to THE album of the 21st century.

Robin Finck. Before joining Axl N? Roses he was a decent player, but not very versatile. Now, he has shwn he can play more than Nine Inch Nailish guitar.

Brain Mantia.

I believe he made this album so much fun to me with the work he did. But, there are a lot of stand-outs on this. I mean I love Tommy Stinson's work especially on Better.

Buckethead. No question.

Some of the, if not the best guitar work ever heard within the confines of a GN'R album.

Caram Costanzo for seemingly placing his name in every possible location in the liner notes.
