I can't remember it was Bumblefoot or Richard, but didn't one of them say that they would be busy with GNR for the next two years?
Also with the whole Robin thing, wasn't the "Guns N' Robin" story on the official GNR page back around April? I have to imagine that if they haven't gotten something hammered out with him (either your in or out type thing) that they must have some sort of plan other wise there is NO WAY Axl would have released this album, with no intention of touring.

A promoter in Paris said that. Bumblefoot has come out on his own forum saying that is untrue

Yes, apparently they could be out on the road by March 2009 at latest.

We've had tours previously to support this album, 2002 and 2006-07 9 believe both were called the 'Chinese Democracy Tour'.
But I would think they'd go out on the road sometime in 2009. My guess is that they are waiting on Robin.

Bucket in the saddle?
If Robin is busy, I can see Bucket filling his vacancy.

What is bucket doing now? Busy? Whomever is going to 'sub' would need to be in the studio or other rehearsal environment now, getting used to playing their songs (assuming they are shooting for Jan start)...especially with so much new material to learn. All I have to say is "I've got a funny feeling" there is one person who could blow this thing up like a hydrogen bomb - more free press than
anyone
has ever seen - and he's not touring, is 'quietly' working in studio, and would also benefit from free promo...there's the hook, line and sinker, any takers?

The Rolling Stone article made a reference to a 2009 World Tour.
Other than the mention in RS about a tour, this is the only other article I have seen that talks about a tour...
On the road? - After sporadically touring during the past several years, the latest GNR lineup has no concert dates scheduled to launch Chinese Democracy.
One source close to the band said a tour is under consideration.

Once I took my aluminum foil beanie off, and sobered up...my 'theory' didn't seem as plausible anymore.
PS - It would be a great move for everyone though...

I think everyone would be welcoming Bucket back into the band by now. even the bitches that were nagging about GN'R being surreal with the masked KFC avenger on stage. now that they've seen all the brilliant work he has done, I think they will be wanting to see him play this shit live too!

Does this mean they'll hit the road then or that's when the plans will be finalized and what not?
