Axl Rose Forever

« on: November 26, 2008, 11:17:41 PM »

Now that CD is out, which of these two masterpieces do you think is better? I think the comparison is a fair one. For me, although November Rain is brilliant, it's definately This I Love. It brought tears to my eyes and touched me in a way that no song ever has, not since I first heard Madagascar at RIR3 anyway.

November Rain by far. To be fair I have had 17 years to enjoy that song and about 3 days with TIL.

November Rain.  No question at all for me.

Wow, nice question, was thinking about this today actually.

Well November Rain is epic and a masterpiece.

For me personally, "This I Love" touches me more actually. "November Rain" is brilliant, taking nothing from it, but in the long haul, I "think" "This I Love" is the song that has moved me more.

I know it's been like what, 4 days or so? Just something very special about TIL that gets me to the core...

Love this song so much

They're both beautiful and meaningful songs. I don't think one is better than the other. They can be appreciated in their own way.

November Rain is so great it practically saved my life. Even though it's about heartbreak, it has a heavy sense of optimism and hope of a better future despite a difficult present situation.

This I Love is totally honest about the dreadful way one feels about an ended relationship. People will relate to that and value its honesty. It doesn't necessarily indicate that things will get better, but it's accurate as to how a person feels when he/she is in that frame of mind. It's sad in a beautiful way.

November Rain by a landslide.

TIL is a good, heart-felt tune that is beautifully written and expertly sang.

But, NR is still in a class by itself, IMO.

November Rain is a classic and I really love it, but TIL touched my heart and have lots of meanings for some personal reasons, so my vote is for TIL.

This I love, hands down.

NR is a good song but I'm not big on powerballads in general.

November Rain stands alone! This I Love comes no where near and is so minuscule in comparison to the extraordinary song November Rain is!

November Rain has really awesome lyrics. Axl's vocal on This I Love is his best ever. Slash is awesome on November Rain. Finck is awesome on This I Love.

 Undecided

This I Love takes it for me. Been having the worst 3 months of my life, except for Chinese Democracy. Came out two weeks after I split with the mother of my children. This I Love was the song I needed, it is amazing.

I though November Rain was Axl's right of passage toward a musical direction he'd probably had in his head for a long time.

A lot of you probably have it, but I remember hearing stripped down demo versions of NR prior to UYI and thinking, "whoa, piano WTF"?

Then you learned it's Axl playing and it just gave you a new perception of him as a songwriter.  You knew the UYI version was going to epic, and it was.

I will say that the vocal tracks on TIL are so tight and good.  I for one think his vocal work on CD throughout blows away everything he has done to date.

November Rain takes it all the way. Axl Rose's vocals are superior and the song is better lyrically.
November Rain is the most powerful metaphor of any GNR song title (Paradise City is a close second).
