These Eyes!

« Reply #181 on: December 26, 2008, 09:35:10 PM »

Of course it is Smiley It's just that I'd like to know / get why they are there for.

The bubbles are a reference back to the baby coming out of the bath in the Don't Cry video.

Also, take a look at the Estranged video, when Axl is under the shower - in a subliminal way - more bubbles!

It all amounts to bubbles and the symbolism of water - rebirth, new life, baptism etc.

Hope that helps!  Smiley

This song is definitely intended to be a Estranged #2, and I think it had the potential to do be so.

But I think the amount and change of emotions are not apparent in Prostitute. It is very short and fast. It ends before you know it, and you cannot keep up with the change of moods in the song. Instrumental parts (like guitar solos) are very very short in the song like in the whole album. They are nt given enough room, but sound like they are squeezed in between. It is like a commercial compared to a film.

I am not dissing the song, but I think it needed a lot more room to reflect its intended grandiosity. At the moment it seems like a user-friendly epic song, which fails to be both user-friendly and epic while trying to be both.

If Estranged was Prostitute #2, it would be a huge success in my perception. But Prostitute, as a predecessor, is clearly falling short when comparing with the greatness of Estranged, especially when you consider released 16 years later than it. Still it is a very good song, which cries aloud to be longer and more elaborated.

Oh, the intro sound very much like late Queensryche.

This song does nothing for me and is a weak ending to the album in my opinion. It is nothing like Estranged.

My absolute favorite song on the album. If the album consisted of nothing but this, it would have been worth the wait.

I don't understand how people can compare estranged and prostitute; estranged is just an avarage rock song with some interesting parts while prostitute is amazing song with amazing combination of everything ending one amazing album ...

ah well, I guess to each his own ...

I've learned many of the most diehards of the diehard agree with Wooody on estranged. so it's not too strange that this song invites comparison with estranged.
and estranged is not an average rock song. First I heard it I thought it was meant for a film score.

Prostitute is such a wicked number to conclude this magnificent album with. "if my intention are misunderstood, please be kind".
graceful.
Isn't it unburdening his mind to the listeners? Works Kinda like a postscrip.
