I agree that perversion and pain makes much more sense, now I just need to train myself to sing that in my head when I'm listening to the song.
Sometimes my first incorrectly heard lyrics stay with me forever.

Kinda like in skid row's 18 and Life... I always thought it was "he walked the streets of social" instead of "he walked the streets a soldier"... I know it makes no sense but I still sing it that way to this day. 

Also, does anyone remember hearing the line "Feel'n like I'm already sick of this song" (or something similar) in one of the IRS demos (instead of "Feel'n I'm livin' inside of this song")... I swear that I remember hearing that in one of the early demos.

I think Prostitute is a revolutionary song. I love every other song in Chinese Democracy, but Prostitute is different, it is like a definitive evolution of Guns N' Roses and rock music in general. A song that combines strength, beauty and lyrical perfection. Can't ask anything more from Guns N' Roses.

Ask yourself, why I would choose, to Prostitute myself, to live with fortune and shame.  What makes sense about "What I would do", it makes it sound as if it is suggesting that Axl is asking how to prostitute himself, why does that make sense over "Why I would choose" This way he is asking, why I would choose to Prostitute myself, to live with fortune and shame, cuz he wouldn't, but someone he is close to obviously is doing just that, but instead of prostituting yourself, you should have turned to the hearts of the ones that you could not save, I told you when I found you all that amounts to is love that your fed by perversion and pain.  Axl is saying your prostitution has created a fortune and has taught her the created love is fed by perversion and pain.

It even kind of goes hand in hand with "There was a time" where he is saying, "social class and registers, cocaine in the hall, all the way from California on the way to your next call, to those non-negotiations to stimulate a cause, for the betterment of evils and your ways around the laws, that keep you up and sitting pretty on a pedestal or bed and now your sleeping like an angel, never mind who you gave head, if theres something I can make of this or anything at all, it'd be the devil hates a loser and you thought you had it all.
