I like this song. It has a theatrical feel in it and would never had thought that Axl would open up the scars on his heart to tell us all what is going on under the scar.
Did anyone notice that the melody of Axls vocals sounds somewhat similiar to the guitar-lead-section of Master of Puppets from Metallica?
(Maybe it's just me.)

Really?
I mean, I love the album, but This I Love is by far my least favorite song. I don't hate it, but it is nowhere near as good as Sorry or Scraped. Just thought I'd offer a different opinion...no offense if you love the song. I'm just not feeling it...

Axl sounds too feminine in the chorus, like his voice doesn't have any power at all. Very annoying. Otherwise the song is ok, I guess. I'd prefer his UYI era voice over the clean squeel though.

yeah, you can hear that clean squeel in Street Of Dreams also...
... people will always complain. This I Love is song that sounds Axl wanted it to not like he now has problems with voice and it can not sound different...

I don't have any problems with the vocals--in fact I think Axl sounds better than ever on the album. This I Love, in my opinion, just sounds like it's from Sweeney Todd and the lyrics are a bit too cheesy. I don't know...I like the song, but it is definitely not one of my favorites...

I totally agree. Do you know that HTGTH members have voted it their favorite song off CD?

You should have seen the cover they wanted to do. It wasn't a glove, believe me.

I agree. I really don't understand everyones love of this song. People love ballads I guess no matter how bad the lyrics are.

I don't get the love affair with this song either... I can listen to it and enjoy it, but I'm not sure where all of these "stunning" and "breathtaking" comments are coming from. I also find it really bizarre that a lot of people agree this would be a huge hit if released as a single... it would crash and burn right out of the gates as a single.

I disagree.
Aside from us Gn'R fans, I can see soccer moms and people who have never even heard of Gn'R eating this tune up.

Soccer moms make huge hits out of Bon Jovi singles, but I think this is too different... anyone who hasn't heard of GN'R but likes this kind of music knows that radio and TV is the LAST place to find it. Even if people enjoyed it, I couldn't see it having any sort of legs.
I just can't picture it, this is an 'album' song through and through IMO.

I just started to appreciate this song. I only listened to it once or twice before, but only half listening, and I usually skipped it before. I finally realized how great it is. I really like the piano and guitar with the vocals and the solo is really cool. It's probably the most tasteful song on the album. This and Catcher really got me into Fink and Bumblefoot.

This song was voted the best song off cd, so it's fair to say that the ones who don't like This I Love are very outnumbered.
This song is awesome. Liked it the first time I heard it.
I'm not sure if this would be such a great choice as a single, not sure how well mainstream radio would react to this, but only time will tell. I don't make predictions or pretend to know the truth like some of the other users on this board.

agreed...the first time I heard this song was at the NYC listening party and I was blown away....it is my favorite song off the of "CD".... I have said it before, in my opinion this might be the best song Axl has written(that we have heard of course)...It is right up there with "November Rain", "Estranged", etc... This is the type of song that should make people feel foolish for mentioning Slash, Duff or any reunion nonsense....actually I think the whole album pretty much makes reunion talk sound foolish, but this song especially...

The song is a pretty song, but it's not even in my top 5 from the album. In fact it probably ranks down at the bottom. I don't know why, I want to love it, I just don't. It's a great piece of work, just not one I connect with I guess.
The same can be said for CITR, which is my least favorite song on the album.
