The drums are indeed killer, best drum work of the album by far.
IMO, the lyrics are about a terrorist who search for salvation on his belief.

Was watching this & the slightly eastern sounding orchestral part in the background sounded familiar. Listen from 3m12s-3m22s. Sounds very like the intro to Riad just before the delayed guitar riff comes in. Just wondering if GN'R actually created that piece or they sampled it from somewhere. Either that or they let Top Gear use the piece before the record was released. Might be nothing but sounds very like the bit in Riad.

I just listened to it again. I'm pretty sure it's the same sample. Just has a few delay & reverb effects on Riad. Starts at 26 seconds into the actual track.

Seriously listen again. 3m12s-3m22s in the video and 26 secs in the actual track. The synth orchestra thing. Same sample.

The Riad intro seems to sample A Strangely Isolated Place by Ulrich Schnauss.

This other song "Letter from Home", at least before the percussion comes in, sounds like the start of the Riad intro too.

The intro does sound a little like "a strangely isolated place."
Riad n' the bedouins as a whole is so much better than what It sound like live from 2000-2002, I'm so impressed with this song.

Yeh listening to that it's the same thing that was used on Top Gear & Riad. Pretty cool sample.

I cannot stand this song, starting in 2001 and continuing to today. It is hard to believe that Axl did not have a better song to include on his album in 14 years.

I hate the verse with the "ahs" but man, when he starts singing about salvation and frustration, I feel like moshing.

Indeed. Maybe it's a typical sound and not intented but I don't think so.
Anyway, after hearing the 2001/02 live versions I was afraid that if this song was included in the album that would hurt the sales and the album overall.
In contrary, the song was extremely improved. From garbage, it became a strong rock song with great vocal content, guitar solos and attitude. I like the new solo and intro which it offers some blue devils. It's one of my favorites.
I don't think there's a track error although I was a bit confused in the beggining because of the previous demo.
It seems that this song is dedicated to the Oklahoma insident (I think there's an interview with Axl). I guess the lyrics are supposed to blame the terrorists, (although there's a theory about a C.I.A. conspiracy behind the attack and that's debatable).
By the way, does anyone have the feeling that the intro with the synth stuff and the electronic blinks is like describing the explosions of the building? Espcecially the part from 00.35 to 00.47 is like hearing the people in the building screaming (like the people that were heard screeming from the cell phones in the 9/11 attack) and the last guitar strokes or riffs can resemble the collapse of the building. If correct it's a little creepy but genius.

I really dig this song especially the way Axl's vocals meld into a powerful guitar sound in the chorus. A very aggressive and sweet sounding rocker.

Bedouins are a tribal community, the term covers millions of people living in desert climates in Asia also people on the coast of certain parts of Africa are known as Bedouins. As far as Riad goes I dont know if theres a real history to that
