Out of the shadows, into...Hell?

« Reply #140 on: September 10, 2009, 06:42:32 PM »

My favorite from day one...as for 'sports anthem', it was played at the TimesUnion Center in Albany NY during River Rats (Hockey) warm ups last season...sounds awesome blasting throughout the arena.  Only part I think will hamper it becoming as prevalent a 'sports anthem' as WTTJ is the intro.  WTTJ has a much more menacing intro...I could be wrong, but I believe the  PA @ TUC skipped the 'axl with stubbed toe' intro and started right at the 'punch you in the face' drum/guitar kickoff part when the skates hit the ice.  F--king love it, no matter what.

great song and lyrics. Just would use less ay ohs throughout the song and wouldnt have included the barely audible Axl background vocals. They clog up the song a lil

other than that its a great anthem type song with some powerful lyrics

My favorite part is the solo and the rhythm guitars beneath it, that part hits extremely hard on the stereo

Also love the guitars under the second part of each of Axl's verses where he lets loose on the vocals

one of my favorites on the album. the best rocker. i love the vocals throughout the whole song. and the guitar during the verses is so bad ass.

i've been kinda surprised at the general lack of love for this tune.

the song just kicks ass!

this is what i said back then right after CD was released, and i still feel exactly the same way.  ok

This songs seems a bit overlooked for some reason.....

Great lyrics as usual by Axl.

For example, the lines:

Some may convince you
No one can break through
You know you?re stronger
Than the lies
That they tell you

remind me of U2's "Acrobat". Because in it one part goes And you can dream, so dream out loud, And don't let the bastards grind you down..

Both songs seem to deal with similar subjects. It could be aimed at the press, people who try to stop you from doing what you want/believe in etc.

Took me nine months to make this kind of "connection".  Grin

/jarmo

i saw the similar connection to ugly duckling, Rapunzel and Cinderella Grin

I would love if they put out scraped now for the tour if it happens. It would be good promotion for them having a new song on the radio a good rocker . peace

This would be a good opening for their concert.   Then follow it up with It's So Easy.  That would rock.  Rhiad would be a good opener too I think.

Scraped is an excellant song, but I feel the reason it's considered the best "rocker" on the album is beacuse it was fresh when it came out....We were already familular w/ CD,Better and Rihad so many gravitated towards Scraped (as did I).

How weird.

This song just came on randomly on my iTunes DJ, as I was reading the above post.....  Cheesy

Yeah, would be amazing to hear it live. Just like the rest of the album....

It would be very cool if Gn'R divided the setlist between the entire new album and old classics like The Cure did when they played Rome last year.

+1

I keep imagining Ron and Tommy belting out the intro with Axl taking the lead vocals.  Wonder how they'll pull off that intro live....

How's that for provocation?

WWW
« Reply #154 on: September 25, 2009, 09:13:21 PM »

Yeah three options I can see:

1. Get pitman to sample the background Axls, so then Axl can do 1 of the parts over the top.

2. Ignore the background parts, and have Axl just rip into a huge scream intro - similar to the famous "Do you know where the fuck you are?" thing with Jungle.

3. Forget the intro and just kick it off from the riffs....

I'd love this song live though, the lyrics sum up how I feel much of the time.

I disagree. IMO, it sounds just perfect. The live intro with drums is cool, but what makes the song to me is the guitar work - the heavy main riff and Bumble's awesome solo. Its one of my favorites besides Riad.

This song is motivational for me, and I feel it has a very strong message behind it.
