good ol' dexter must have a system that hits in his car. unfortunately cd does not with the exception of shacklers revenge. wish it was mixed like the last a7x album. the bass hits so hard on that it rattles your teeth.
I think thats what Axl intended for SR and by the way if you listen to music loud enough it dosent bother you anymore its kind of like with most drugs you grow more addicted to it!!!!!!!
I don't know...
I think it sounds fine, esp. with a good pair of headphones.

in headphones it does sound fine, but play it in a nice house system, or a good car system. not a factory system either. you will hear the levels are off, there's no deep bass that hits with the exception of sr. for example greatest hits has such a crisp sound. you dont have to constantly adjust the sounds like cd. the best mixed rock album i've ever heard is avenged sevenfold self titled album. but dont get me wrong cd is a 100times cleaner than death magnetic. that is one of the worst mixes i've ever heard by a big band.

I always wonder why big bands turn to Rick Rubin to produce their records. People down his work all over the place and I can personally speak for both AC/DC's
Ballbreaker
and Metallica's
Death Magnetic
. Neither sound impressive from a production standpoint.

If it sounds fine in headphones why shouldn't it sound fine comming fram a decent stereo?
I think CD is brilliantly mixed and i would think you'd had to adjust the sound and shit alot more in a pair of headphones where you much easier can hear all the detailes etc.
There are alot of different tracks on cd, made in different eras etc, but i don't think the record(the compact disc at least) is poorly mixed at all.

I think Rick Rubin is more known for his advice and Buddha like presence in the studio rather than technical skill at production techniques. He has made some great sounding records with the Chili Peppers though.

CD sounds fucking awesome in my Truck. That includes Prostitute. I have the standard stereo that came with my Ridgeline. Sounds fucking badass when the drums kick in. CD has a very remarkable production in my honest opinion. To this day I pick up on little things that impress me that I didn't hear before.

I'm not saying Its awful, but it needs to be turned up unnecessarily loud to match other songs volume.... But this has been my complain w/ all GNR albums

i'll explain what i mean. there is no deep bass sound. also sounds like the bass guitar is mixed with the drums. in some songs the vocals are very high & tinsey. i run 6 5 way pioneers. 2 tweets, 2 12' fosgate p3's. & 3 fosgate amps. when you get that much separation, you hear things that headphones wont. same as the new eminem album. mix wise it's all over the place. i wonder if i buy the other chinese democracy if it will make a difference? the scd or whatever it's caled.

Are you talking about songs released by other artists recently? If so, this album wasn't mastered to be the loudest album out there...

Okay, if that's not what you're talking about, what exactly
are
you talking about? The album's mastered evenly, and the volume remains constant throughout so...?

I never said it wasnt
The mix is low, not saying its bad, but as others have said it could "hit harder"

Normally I don't insert my 10 cents into these discussions, but I did notice that I have to turn my system up to '7 bars' to get what I consider normal listening level, while most CD's match that at '4'. I thought this was strange, and am not a techie that would understand or really care why...I just turn up the volume.
