Plus a LOT MORE CD's were sold in the era The Spaghetti Incident was released. That goes without saying. So even though it wasn't original material and to my knowledge it wasn't heavily promoted like AFD and UYI, they were still on tour, still huge, still had Slash and Duff, AND there was no P2P sites and illegal downloading. So I'd say the comparisons are fair as well.
Gn'R weren't on tour when TSI? was released in November of '93, the last Gn'R show was in July of '93.

Fair enough, but they played about as many songs off the album on tour as they did with CD.

Nahhhhhhh, at least, not all at once. Sprinkled throughout the massive tour, maybe.

It's hard to gauge these things. I remember when Linkin Park's debut album was out for a good year or so, they dropped "In The End" as the third or fourth single, and the album skyrocketed back to top of the charts for a good half year.
Same thing happened with Kid Rock's major debut, and the third or fourth single, "Only God Knows Why."

As do I. "In The End" pushed it back into the top of the charts though, it had fallen into the Top 20, or slightly higher before that single was released.
1."One Step Closer"
Released: November 28, 2000
2."Crawling"
Released: May 1, 2001
3."Papercut"
Released: September 25, 2001
4."In the End"
Released: November 20, 2001
"Papercut" didn't catch on at all, so that's a whole half year after their last big single from the album, "Crawling"

Unless the label puts out "This I Love" and actually manages to get it on the Twilight sequel with a video of concert footage and movie to promote it , the ship has sailed. If they manage to do it , the single will move big time. The kids are waiting for that movie. You place "This I Love" on that soundtrack , it will make the album hot.

They should this movie isnt going to be bad compared to a certain other vampire movie we all know but if it happens the young people will get to hear just a taste of the greatest album of this 21 century!!!!

i would say yeah. im guessing they would fix the lyrics in the booklet also. 37,000 is a fair number i think.
That is an absolutely insane number to expect simply for an alternate cover.

But with proper promotion it would be a lot more... They would HAVE to promote a re-release.... Right?

The record company didn't really promote the original release and neither did the band. Why would they throw more money at this project? It may be time to face the idea that this album has run its course from a commercial standpoint.

that might be true. Let's face it, this album came out last November, for 99% of bands they would be finishing up a second or third leg of a tour by now and most of the singles would have been released. This is also around the time bands start coming up with material for the next album. "Death Magnetic" came out around the same time last year, 2 months earlier to be exact and Metallica at this point has released 3 music videos, several singles, done countless promos and tv interviews, toured several countries around the world, shot multiple live DVD's of the current tour for release later this year and are heading back to America for the SECOND run on this tour.
None of the above matters in GNR land though, so we have to remember that. GNR could start a world tour for this thing in 2014 and it will still be the best tour of the year. I would just focus on enjoying the music rather than how successful the record ends up being commericially. There are plenty of commericially successful albums that are complete crap, so that is not a way to gauge things.

The commercial success of the album doesn't affect me at all so I'm not gauging it on that. Just more of a reality check for people who think its somehow going to come back to life on the charts.

I never said it was going to tear up the charts again, but you really dont think a wide release and a tour wont help it sell more weekly than it is now?!
Do you think they will release another album when they start to tour? ha
