Ok, now everybody has said what they have to say and this is going nowhere.
So, next time you post, make sure it's something new instead of the usual bitching.

Phases baby.
Like sex, you don't blow your load all at once.
There's nothing like a night of love making that leads to a MORNING cigarette and shower.
You don't put a New York steak on the grill with the flames shooting out to the gates of heaven.
Slow and steady my friends. Stretching out the GN'R experience is more rewarding than having it in your face all at once and never seeing or hearing from GUNS for a long time.
This ain't no pop outfit.
This is GUNS N' FUCKING ROSES we're talking about here.

As far as I'm concerned, the only 'monumental' thing to do would have been to announce all 3 or 4 albums at once--if there are indeed more than once--instead of 'just the one'
If would have killed the "over 10 years" argument...

True, but then what? How can you top 4 simultaneous releases?

This isn't 'The Food Network' fan-site, but I would have to say, unless you like your steak well done and dry (cooked slow & steady), the hotter/faster you cook it the better (within reason). I understand the point though, just a bad analogy...perhaps a smoked pork butt/shoulder would have been a better example.
CD is here, and IT IS a 'monumental' album...truly great...the promo campaign, that depends on what the word 'monumental' means to the reader. Perhaps the word was intended to indicate that the campaign would be an 'uphill struggle', or 'difficult task'...doesn't matter to me anymore (other than I would like EVERYONE in the world to have a chance to hear this CD!)...I am just happy to have the music, and looking forward to possible tour.

For some reason, a post where I explained that I didn't mean a simultaneous release but simply the announcement of all albums to be released over a couple of years was deleted. Can't see what was wrong with it.

Because you didn't stick to the topic and your reply was followed by numerous off topic replies.

I'm starting to think that the infamous "13 Tuesdays" promotion might have resulted in better sales than the "monumental campaign" we have now. At least it would've been unprecedented. Having the album show up on 1 of 13 Tuesdays would've created a treasure hunt type frenzy in which rabid GNR fans were checking records stores every Tuesday... that in itself would've been a big news IMO.
Breaking News: "GNR fans were pleasantly surprised today when entering their local record store and found the once mythical Chinese Democracy album staring them in the face. Chinese Democracy sold an amazing 600,000 records the first week without a single press release or promotion. Other bands are now considering 'stealth-ninja releases' in hopes of creating a similar buzz"

I kinda see where you're coming from but I really don't think it would've sold more with that marketing then this.

A big reason I'd disagree with that is that this management team got the album released. Which all other things aside, makes me happy.

Imo, Axl got this album released and no one else. If Axl didnt want to release it would we have it right now?

They got it released for the most money which is everything Axl is against
in doing so, it is in 900 stores and not selling like it should.
but at least the Universal Bill got paid right?

I'm glad you know Axl and his management personally.
Great to have someone on the board who is "in the know".

Album's great. I appreciate the fact it was released. MA & RI stations are playing "Chinese Democracy" and "better" every day.
It ain't over 'til it's over.
And really: who schedules a press junket through Thanksgiving & Christmas? Yet, there's a few mentions of Axl & the band in the media, blogs, etc. this week.
Something's brewing for 2009. And if it isn't: I'll just play Chinese Democracy some more.

So after all that, it seems my suspicions weren't boundless at all. Axl didn't approve of the form in which the album was released.
The worst part is, if its re-released again with the cover art/booklet he wanted, people will be quick to call it a cash-in.
