I'll agree to call it monumental when it matches that of the campaign used to promote the shitty game everyone loves, Halo 3. Once I see Axl singing on a Burger King cup, then you can it monumental.

The article said they had a video in the works, and mentioned Scraped shortly after.  I know this for a fact my man...

I was in too much of a good mood last night to answer this, but now: Do you know as a fact that "Scraped" will be a video, despite it not being mentioned once as such? Impressive. Which voice in your head is your source? For us mere mortals, we will have to wait and see it through.

the article did not say anything about a video for scraped ok

Correct Rolling Stone said a video was in the works, it didn't specify which song it was for.

I think I might have to go and steal one of these..

This coming from a Moderator? You want to steal a GN'R promotion ad. How is that any different from stealing a song? Theft is theft, yet here you are condoning this kind of attitude. I really hope you were just being sarcastic.

I think maybe they haven't hit full swing with the campaign yet because of the Presidential elections. Now that's out of the way, hopefully things will pick up fast soon.

Well, maybe he just wanted to take it, do a copy for himself and then hang it again. Then, he wouldn't be so criminal, huh.

Note that the ad campaign was somewhat handcuffed to the election via its 'choose' message...perhaps now they will have a new wave of ads.  Can't wait to see...

I'm sure management has something big comming down the pipe.  I mean they have 17 days to educate the public about who the "New GNR" is.  So I'd think we sould see a video and/or a surprise show and/or an interview with uncle axl,  "soon".   Grin

I was just reading about all the creative, odd things Walmart has done for AC/DC--ice cream trucks, AC/DC boutiques, separate "stores" within the store. All of that marketing seemingly has worked--a "good" AC/DC album became a major event. Until I read that I thought the promotion to this point had been substantial for GNR. Now, I think you have to figure Best Buy will come up with some interesting ways of presenting Chinese Democracy--unless that press release was entirely hyperbole.

I know there have been some TV commercials and there will likely be print ads for the album.  But, what other kinds of promotion will there be to actually constitute a "monumental" campaign?  Will Axl and the band do press?  I certainly hope so.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but with 2 weeks left to go, this "monumental campaign" has been rather, well, I think "limp" is the word.

 - Management press release announcing monumental campaign
 - 30 second TV spots on SNL and Monday Night Football
 - Single release
 - A wall of posters in England
 - Two Bumblefoot interviews

...that's IT???

For a $15-20 million dollar production, they're sure doing a good job of saying absolutely nothing about it so far.

I'm keeping the faith that there's a method to Azoff's madness and I'm obviously as excited as everyone else on here...but wow so far if I wasn't a diehard nutswinger I'd forget that it's coming out!

Here's to hoping that next week Rolling Stone announce an Axl cover, Axl pulls an Obama and buys 30 minutes of prime air time on all the major networks for a showcase of the album and the new band, and they announce a Chinese Democracy Happy Meal...now THAT would be a monumental campaign!

I must admit, most of my non-GNR fan friends weren't aware it was coming out this month.

I think that there will be lots of promotion following the couple of months. Not that I know but I get that impression.
