Here Today...

I miss the old days, you know. When bands would play together and have a good time. This ego shit doesn't do it it for me. If I were in a band I'll be asking all my idols to be on my gigs all the time! hihi

Back to topic. Lars is Axl's friend, James is James. And Mettalica never sucked! beer

I like Metallica and James very much! They kick major ass! And Hetfield is a top frontmen!
But in the 'old days' (early nineties) like you mention, there were also and maybe even bigger revolts between rockbands like GN'R - Metallica - Nirvana - ...

You're kind of right. But I was referring to the really old days, like 70's and 80's. Back in the 80's Guns played with Maiden, Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, Alice Cooper, Tom Petty. We had the sadly canceled David Lee Roth tour. Not to mention guests on GNR concerts, like Jeff Beck, Aerosmith again, Lenny Kravitz and sir Elton Johnpeace

I'm pretty sure he is also thanked in the UYI album notes.

I wouldn't say james is giving a props at all. That is a back handed comment if I ever heard one. But as you guys have said, Lars is a good guy. he can't help is lead singer is a redneck asshole.

definitley not a backhanded comment...i have heard James talk about Axl before..that is as close to a sincere compliment you are ever going to get out of him...

James is a little bitter because of some little incident back in the days... Roll Eyes
and i think he is right with this.

Besides that : I'd wish to see Guns N' Metallica 2.0

That would rule

^ That would never happen... doubt Axl would open for anybody. Maybe the Stones... Zeppelin... not Metallica.

It was a semi compliment.  He is still bitter towards Axl for the whole riot thing, but admits he is a great frontman.  And that is as far as he will go.

Agreed. That said... I think it's pretty much enough for me to remove Hetfield from my old "90's feuds" shit list. Cobain removed himself. I guess that only really leaves Jon Bon Jovi and Vince Neil.hihi
Vince Neil rocks.  You may be able to remove old Vince from the list also. I think it was on a more recent appearance Letterman where they ask him if he still wants to fight Axl and goes on bout how hes older now and it doesnt matter anymore or something.

Hetfield's a very good frontman.  Yes, I think Axl brings much more to the table artistically and in the unpredictability department too.  It was nice to read.   peace

"Chinese Democracy" absolutely rips off the head and shits down the neck of that lame new Metallica song, "The Day that Never Comes."

Houston Chronicle

Singer/guitarist James Hetfield checked in from the band?s tour...

Q: You guys have an uneasy history with Guns n? Roses. Have you heard Axl Rose?s new record? Do you even care?

A: I?ll certainly listen to it. But I haven?t lost sleep waiting for it. I thought we took a long time to make an album. But you know he?s late for everything so it makes total sense. We saw him play at a festival in Germany two years ago. He?s a good frontman. He?s eccentric, but all artists are. If they don?t show that they?re quirky, they?re lying to you. They?re either pretending they?re not or they?re pretending they?re an artist.

^ Great quote.  I respect Hetfield and I think he's spot-on with his analysis.  (may I add, that takes nothing away from the greatest rock singer ever, one W. Axl Rose)

I'd be interested to see what he thinks after he gets a chance to listen to the album.

That's high praise from Hetfield. I think it gives you a sense how good this album is when rivals inclined to really want to bash the thing... decide they better not (for fear of looking stupid).

All of which opens up the following questions: (1) What would Kurt Cobain have thought of this album? (2) What does Vince Neil think? (3) What does Jon Bon Jovi think? (4) What does Trent Reznor think? (5) What does Dave Grohl think? (6) What does Scott Weiland think? (7) What does Eddie Vedder think (not a rival necessarily- but a contemporary of Axl's)? A penny for their thoughts. hihi
