Sweet! I am hearing it everyday here on a hard rock station and the classic rock station. The classic rock dj said its not getting as many votes as ACDC but it is generating tons of possitive email.

Chinese Democracy Is Coming Some Day!!!

« Reply #2 on: October 29, 2008, 05:21:35 PM »

I have been following the charts everyday since the single release and after the first week of plays, I think Chinese is a success. If the momentum keeps going it will easily go #1. I was not expecting R&R's (Radio and Records) to be so high. Normally most published charts are about a week behind.

Just think of how well Street of Dreams, Better, and Prostitute will rank, hell the whole album has the potential to do very well on the music charts.

Aw...I was hoping this would hit the #1 spot the first week with all the momentum it seems to have going for it. Maybe next week?

Use Your Illusion I (1991)

« Reply #5 on: October 30, 2008, 12:15:09 AM »

I already made a thread for this topic, and if I had made another thread like this person did, I would be shot down in flames.

Anyways.

You were hoping that it would debut at #1 on the rock chart?

That is asking too much, I think it will hit #1 on the rock chart eventually, these things have to build up.

oh yes, and another thing.

Nothing is "official" unless it is on billboard, that is the main charting place for stats.

Not trying to be a dick or anything, but I thought Iwould say that.

I just checked billboard and I see no gn'r in the top 20 on either rock chart.

Next week they should be on there

Radio and Records tracks airplay and adds. It's what pretty much every radio station in the country uses. That, or Mediabase 24/7.

Maybe some stupid question but is Chinese Democracy already released as an official single?
It has been aired, you can hear it on several sites but I do not think you can buy it anywhere...correct me if I'm wrong...

Anyhow, it's nice to have them back in the charts!

It's released to the radio stations as an official first single. It is not yet for sale in any form.

There is an actual pressed cd with the single Chinese Democracy on it, but it's a promotional disc without artwork etc.

This is the song that is not dedicated to drinking or drug addiction or any of that kind of stuff. This song is basically about a walk in the park. This is something called 'Nightrain'

Just for comparison.  Death Magnetic was released on 9/12 and "The Day That Never Comes" to reached #1 on 9/27.  Not sure when the single was released and where it debuted on the chart.

Okay, from wikipedia.

"The Day That Never Comes" was released to the radio and for digital download on Thursday August 21st, 2008 at 11 am PDT.

The song debuted on Billboard's Hot 100 at #31, giving the band their seventh top forty Hot 100 hit. It is also the band's highest charting single on the Hot 100 since 1997's "The Memory Remains", which peaked at #28. With less than four days of airplay, "The Day That Never Comes" debuted at #7 on Billboards Mainstream Rock Chart,

So it did debut 5 spots higher, but it did take a little over a month for it to reach #1.

I'm not sure that's a fair comparison... I'm pretty sure Billboard takes both airplay AND digital sales into account, which means if Metallica put their song on iTunes, that would push them further up the charts.  This is why, for example, Kanye West can debut at #3 on the Hot 100 because fans are buying the single once it's available.  Chinese position is strictly radio spins!

Yeah you're probably right.  I don't know how the charts work exactly, I'm actually surprised CD appeared on the Hot Mainstream Rock Chart.  I figured all the charts on Billboard dealt with "sales" unless there was a specific chart for radio play.

Having a video would help and a little more promotion for it, otherwise it'll fizzle out. But I don't expect that to happen, management will take care of promoting it.

as already posted above... yes it's #12 on the main rock chart, and #14 on the modern rock chart.

same charts basically, except the mainstream is what is more known I guess?

Not a bad debut, usually the top 3 songs or so hit the top 100 overall... I think Gn'R can do it. Impressive debut

also the gnr name doesn't link anywhere on the charts, every other band does. it is kinda like they expected them not to get a single charted

either that, or the gnr page that they have now has original members pictured... one of the two
