From issue #1018, out today:

The article essentially speculates on the success of Chinese Democracy, and provides a timeline for the creation of the album.  It also has a quote from Bumblefoot:

"I haven't heard the final mastering," says current GN'R guitarist Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal.  "I was supposed to meet up with them this week and listen.  I'm a bit curious, you know?  But truthfully, there's some great songs.  It's a beautiful record."

Concerning Axl's willingness to do press for the album, Thal says, "We haven't spoken about it yet.  I can only assume that after you put out an album, you go and play all over the world.  Then again, this is Guns N' Roses, where the laws of physics do not apply."

And finally, on CD's release, Ron says, "People are going to want to hate it just to punish everyone for taking so damn long.  But it's gonna be good."

I'm sure the story will be featured on the www.ew.com website soon.

Thanks for that.   Basically what appears in the magazine, without the timeline and with the confirmation of the release, which the magazine only speculated about.

Its funny how Bumblefoot is always first in line giving interviews and really has no decisive answers to any questions. Makes you wonder how much the band is really involved in the final product. Roll Eyes

They don't wanna give the game away and frankly that's an important thing for an album that has taken this long to make, why show us the goods before it's out?!

Frankly, Ron has been excellent to us fans considering the position the band's commitment to secrecy puts him in.  I had no idea who Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal was when he was announced in 2005 as the new GNR lead guitarist, but now I see him as a completely integral and essential part of the band.

I'm surprised that *anyone* from the band is talking to the press about the album.  Given how silent everyone has been, I figured it would be Axl doing the talking, or no one.  It nice to get Ron's take on the situation, limited though it may be.

Why would Ron talk about Axl giving press, its not his place and a stupid question from the interviewer.

He couldnt make the session to listen to the album after mastering before it went out, big deal.

Dont look for issues that are not there just to fit your needs.

I just hope he doesn't take any heat for it from the band itself...he's a great guy, and such a tremendous musical asset.

EW considers David Cook one of the biggest rock artists of the day?  Hinder?

David Cook?

DAVID COOK!?

If David Cook and Axl were to ever bump into each other, Cook would get down on his knees and beg for mercy, screaming "I'M NOT WORTHY! I'M NOT WORTHY!"  yes

I remember reading an article in early 06 in regard to Hinder, they said they were asked or considered to open for the GNR 06 tour, but they supposedly declined, stating they were in fact fans of GNR, but were not commiting due to Axl's lack of showing or being on time.  Think I have the article in my scrap book.  I kinda liked Hinder at the time, but I liked them less after that Tongue

Or, realistically, ask who he was. Then get punched in the face.

I remember reading that.  And you know, I *still* don't think I've ever heard a Hinder song, which is fine by me.

Hinder and Nickelback do NOT "rule the rock world"...they are pretty big in the POP world...just because it has guitars in it does not make it rock music...
