Many of you saw the band for the first time in 2006 followed by 2002.

36 saw GN'R for the first time in 1991.

Many of you want GN'R to play either your house or your home town.  Wink

Thats very interesting. By the looks of it I was the only Aussie to do this. I think I may have fucked up the last question I think I done it arse up, I thought 1 was most likely and 5 least likely. If I remember correctly.

But looking at some of the answers, it's a little bit odd that most people became a fan in 87 and 88!! Ok, AFD topped the charts in 88, but I'm sure GNR was a complete unkonwn to mainstream in 87. There were sort of popular in the LA club scene, but I just find it hard to believe most people here became fans before they actually became comercially big.

I was expecting many more answers from those years 91-93, I guess I was wrong or maybe people feel they wouldntt be considered hard core fans if they discovered the band around the Illusion years.

Seems as though you doubt people becoming fans in '87.  From the looks of the responses, there is a significant number of fans 30 and up.  I'm 31, making me 10 in '87.  I clearly remember first seeing Gn'R in rock magazines (circus, metal edge) in late '87, seeing Welcome to the Jungle and remember that episode of Headbangers Ball when they tore up the set.  And while I didn't actually own Appetite until the summer of '88 (which was my answer for when I became a fan), they had clearly made an impression on me before that.  In fact I'm guessing I would have purchased Appetite sooner if I had money, but I was only 10 years old...still had to count on Mom and Dad for such purchases.  1988 was really a monumental year for me as a music fan, because I had went from owning 4 cassette tapes to suddenly becoming obsessed with buying music that summer, and Gn'R had a lot to do with that.
