well i have to say one of the dj's on radio 1 (annie mac maybe?) was comparing the intro to CD to the type of music the band "the darkness" play and saying that the darkness lead singer justin hawkins should replace axl at guns n roses.

I have to say she lost my respect then...

They played the entire song today on Stern coming out of a commercial break.  Everyone seemed to like it and no one bashed it at all.  It sounds so good on the radio, and it grows on me everytime I hear it.

Artie even joked that Axl should have just mixed up the songs Sweet Home Alabama and Werewolves Of London instead of taking so much time to come up with something original.  (taking a stab at kid rock)

Last week they played up until the first verse of CD and some of TWAT as well.  Everyone was really positive, particularly Howard, about both songs; however, TWAT seemed to get an even better reaction.

It was a banner day for GNR yesterday on the Stern Show.  They got 3 separate mentions.  First they had a guest on that was at the Chiller Theatre convention and they were going over other people (more obscure) people who were there and they mentioned Bumblefoot.  Then they discussed Steven Adler and his appearance on Celebrity Rehab.  Then they played CD.  Robin said without knowing who/what it was she was really liking it.

I heard the official version of CD for the first time last night on Lou Brutus' Hard Drive XL.

Gotta say I'm not a big fan of the layered vocals with the low and the high together.  Still decent though.

I am just saying that you have to stretch your singles out.

"Chinese Democracy" is getting good reviews, good airplay. It is way too early to try to push another single out. Stretch the singles.

Typically you don't release singles together so close. It isn't good marketing because you aren't letting the current single float out as far as it can. I know I'm not the only one in the world who thinks this right?

December would be an okay time to push another single, the single now just came out, it's hot and fresh and it's doing well, you ride that then do another one.

Keep a close eye on the artists who sell the most records in recent years and the gap between their 1st & 2nd single releases....

Dumb?  Not good for the band?  How would releasing two singles before the release of CD be bad in anyway?  "Yeah, i was going to buy CD after hearing CD, but now im not because they just put out another single that i don't really like"..    Fact is, if someone really likes CD and they plan on buying the CD or are now interested in GNR, another single isn't going to change that.

All it does is give people another song that may even peak their interest even more.  Or peak interest if they didn't like CD.

For example, im in palm springs on vacation and i have yet to hear chinese on their rock station. I called in to ask about it and its not even in their rotation.  Either who ever is in charge of the rotation has a problem with Axl, or they don't think the song is good enough.  Either way, maybe another song sooner or later might change things.

in austria the biggest radio station played 40 seconds of cd; they said it was too hard, even for late night airplay and then switched to november rain. i think that's why anpother single will be (and has to be) coming soon, to reach out for the masses. that's my argument, why releasing another single in november will be a good move, not a bad one.

i assume it can only chart if the public actually buy it. via download or a physical copy, none of which are available

No, the Mainstream and Active Rock charts are based on radio airplay, not sales.
