In all honesty I prefered the deep vocal on its own when he is singing "it dont really matter", I dont mind in the second and third verses, it seems mixed better. But in the first verse the high vocal seems a little to loud.
Can the soundscape that they have created in the studio for the song be affected by the way the radio chooses to broadcast it?
You know how you choose a preset sound on a media player or stereo etc, somethings jump out more whatever one you choose.
I have even heard the song played and the guitar riff at the start has been completely muffled.
I think it sounds ok on the website though, but I still miss that dominating deep Brownstone growl at the start though.

^ here is why I think you're wrong....
1. I am obsessed with Josh Freese... I know his style through and through.
2. Brain emulated his style the best possible...
3. Brain's style and sound isn't there on the new drum tracks.
4. The drums don't even sound the same. They are tighter and with more attack.
The truth is nobody knows...
we'll just wait and see. But I'm pretty sure that's not Brain on CD.

My brother, who is not a GNR fan but a BEATLES man, really liked the song and played it over several times.

Do you need Axl to personally call you and tell you? How much more proof do you need? It's not Brain, it's Frank. Deal with it. I'm sure Brain is on other tracks.

A little earlier, somebody mentioned the book being a 23 pager, on this basis does anybody agree with me that the centre pages are a double spreed of the bit of art work done by? and was counted as a single page

Encouraging sign from my local rock station: Every day around 4:00 p.m. they do a thing called "Double Shots," where they play back-to-back songs from the same band. I'd just turned on the radio today when about five minutes later the DJ was like "Well, it wasn't hard me to decide who should be our first double shot of the day, considering how many requests have been pouring in all day for this next song . . . Love it or hate it, people want to hear it, and here it is: Chinese Democracy!"
I thought that was pretty cool. Seems like more and more people continue to call in and request it every day.

US Radio Chart update!!!
Media Base 24/7 Radio Charts for the week of 10/17/08 to 10/23/08.
Active Rock:
25 GUNS N' ROSES Chinese Democracy
Mainstream Rock:
17 GUNS N' ROSES Chinese Democracy
Source: Allaccess.com
That is based with only a couple of days of spins, if the rate keeps up it should be in the Top 10 in no time.

Mainstream vs. Active? What's the difference between these two?

Mainstream vs. Active? What's the difference between these two?
Mainstream rock is a radio format used by many commercial radio stations in the United States and Canada.
Mainstream rock stations are between classic rock and active rock on the programming spectrum, in that they play more classic rock than active rock stations, but play more modern rock than classic rock stations. In many ways, mainstream rock is a successor to the widespread album-oriented rock (AOR) format created in the 1970s.
Active rock is a radio format used by many commercial radio stations across Canada and the United States.
Active rock plays current rock artists with a mix of classic rock songs. An active rock station may include songs by known and popular artists such as Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, and AC/DC in its playlist. Whereas a modern rock or classic rock station would not. Similar to active rock stations, mainstream rock stations play current rock music, but concentrate more on classic rock than active rock stations do.
That's Wiki's definition.

When I first heard this song, in 2001, I thought it was a good solid rocker with a great potential and it just needed a little finishing here and there. And I wasn't wrong, the final version is amazing! Can't wait for the whole album.

The people that dont really like music ruined it for the rest of us with singles. Alot of BIG bands wont release them anymore which sucks coz Im a big fan of collecting things like that.
