Use Your Illusion I (1991)

« Reply #1360 on: October 23, 2008, 11:46:36 PM »

I was thinking about the single and what D was saying with some others.

They couldn't start off with a ballad, and Shackler's Revenge is killer, but a little industrial and I guess "Oh My God" ish.

I liked Oh My God, and Shackler's wouldn't of been a bad choice, but C.D. starts off so slow and then rips... it's a perfect opener to any concert, work out, or album, and in this case Chinese Democracy.

So I think this was a perfect opener for Guns N' Roses' new era. It took a while to start but it's here, and it's here to stay.

"Chinese Democracy" is the best rock song that I've heard in a long long time.

I don't know if it's a big gun or not, I would say it is... but it doesn't matter what it is, I'm sure there's better to follow, and I'm sure that we'll love it all.

Can someone post the full CORRECT CD lyrics?

You'll have to wait a month*.

* = Assuming there are lyrics in the booklet.

/jarmo

You know...a booklet without lyrics would be almost as disappointing as waiting 16 years for the album.  crying

big guns your avatar or little photo is so disturbing  hihi

in other thing, i think its perfectly normal that people just love to hate Axl, like so many of us love him, its his personality.  many fans love to hear him rant or give interviews, because he is cool, but some others think he is an egomaniac and they hate that. i think it comes with the territory.

Copy & paste from the Velvet Rope forum:

Quote
Guitars are Paul Tobias, Robin Finck, Buckethead, Ron Thal and Richard Fortus
Bass is Stinson
Drums are Frank Ferrer
Dizzy Reed, Chris Pitman, and Axl did the keys

Which kinda proves what Mark said on Talking Metal about Frank drumming on the track.

He was the guy who was there when most of these songs were being created.

Sorry if this has already been posted, but 'Chin Dem' was played tonight on Radio 2 in the UK. It was on Chris Evans show in the 'hit or miss' game (where listeners contact the station and vote).......the result......and i qoute "in a bumper textbag, it was a volcanic hit, you think it is brilliant." So most listeners liked the song!!

On a side note, Chris Evans thought the song 'Chin Dem' would be a better Bond theme than the actual bond theme!

If anyone wants to listen - http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/b00f0z6j  The song is played at 1 hour and 26mins, the result from listeners (you hear various comments, good, bad..etc) is at 1 hour 39 mins.

Ian
Thats cool - Chris Evans is a pretty influential DJ still -  ok - and Radio 2 has bigger listening figures than Radio 1 as generally Radio 1 is sub 25's now ...

Oh, so frank completely did the whole drumtrack for the song? That's what i thought anyway but confirmation is good! I like his version better than Brains tbh

I just think it's a smart idea to have the title track of the album as the first single. The name 'Chinese Democracy' has had so much mystery, press and discussion over the years. To have a radio DJ annouce up next 'Guns N' Roses - Chinese Democracy' is pretty powerful and is bound to make people listen.
