Any idea how well the single is doing ratings wise?  Will it debut at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100?

Doubt it. Even if it's played constantly, there are just so many more rap/r&b stations than rock stations that it's nearly impossible for a rock song to hit number 1.

Looks like the only rock songs in the top 50 are Nickelback at #16 followed by Coldplay at 24, Gavin Rossdale at 34, and Kid Rock at 35.

The most comparable single that I can think of, Nirvana's "You Know You're Right" never made it higher than #45.

Sounds like Dr Pepper is taking it pretty well they are about to lose a few million dollars.   ok

If it doesn't hit #1 it should for sure be in the top 10.

I don't think the single is going to be officially released, for actual purchase, until the 27th, so I don't think it'll be eligible for most charts.

This is just another form of advertising for Dr. Pepper, and a very unique one that will get them a lot of attention

They play that ad with Dr. J all the time during college football and NFL games and that's not cheap.  So they aren't losing money, so much as buying publicity

A mastered final version of a song will help with that.  Wink

Not only that but Ron's new guitars.  They really beefed up the song and kept up the momentum during the verses.  I think a lot of people who were concerned about the lack of bluesy, sleazy guitars in the new songs have had their fears allayed.  Ron's really dirtied the song up.  The guitars during the verses sound pretty AFD-esque

"Ain't It Fun"

« Reply #1216 on: October 22, 2008, 11:46:15 PM »

I just heard the final Chinese Democracy.

I've been very critical of this song in the past, but today, everything came together for it.
GNR really came around this song and gave it new life. They filled all the missing pieces and now ITS is AMAZING!!!

The big sound will definitely be attention grabbing. This song is the one to do that. The next one will be the big hit, like how Sweet Child followed WTTJ and Its So Easy.

The beginning is so epic, and really brings me into the song. Axl's voice is in TOP form again.

The whole thing gives me goosebumps.
Axl is really giving this to his fans. Genius has arrived.

I posted the link to www.gunsnroses.com on a sports message board today, and most of the reaction sounds like this:

"I really didn't think I'd like this, but it's really good."
