Guy on WAAF now, really speaking highly of CD and GNR.  Saying listeners calling in, saying Axl can't sing anymore out of their minds.  Says, this song is the closest to old GNR and people are in for a pleasant surprise when they hear the rest of the album.

I think he's a sports guy, I recognize the voice from Boston sports media, if that matters.  Song is gonna be on again, soon!

They just played it on Edge 102 in Toronto (like 10 mins ago).  They didn't say a whole lot other than something along the lines of "after waiting 16 years we have to wait another 42 seconds (the intro) to hear the new GNR".  Man does it sound good, I love the layering of the vocals in this version, it's much more apparent than the leaks for sure.

Yeah, obviously I'm biased (we all are) but that guys explanations make a lot more sense than the negatives.  The standard, Axl's old and can't sing anymore, it's not really GNR, 15 years for this?  That's the best the can come up with?  Really?  15 years have passed and that's the best argument you can come up with to say it's no good?  Like I said before, people claiming they don't like the song aren't looking at it objectively.  Their minds were already made up.  With that being said, most people are hearing the song for the first time and it's rare to love a song right off the bat.  It takes a few listens for songs to sink in.

They're playing the song, next.

"All the way from California" -- 11/10/2006

« Reply #739 on: October 22, 2008, 08:16:33 AM »

I just had my first listen on 94.1 WYSP in Philly.  I can't believe this day is finally here!  beer

It sounds AMAZING!  So much for those leaks being "final, mastered versions," huh?

The DJ was cool.  He played Mr. Brownstone as an intro, which I think was a good choice.  Axl's voice seems similar to the one he uses for Chinese Democracy.  He was listening on his headphones, but there's so much going on he needs to listen to it more before he gives his opinion.  We'll see what the callers say...
