So what?
To be honest, I haven't really searched the GNR official site in weeks (well, I just did). Last news update is from August and we all know there's been shit load of news recently. The site doesnt mention the Body of Lies soundtrack, the Best Buy deal...so I'm not really bothered.
To me, that site was built to give a few updates when the band toured and a few tidbits of official info while the masterplan was being planned. I beleive all this leads to a new official site that will soon see the light. Maybe even tomorrow...who knows...but for the time being, I don't really care about the official site, there's no reason to.
I've said it before and I totally agree with You that there will be a new site soon... this one is still hosted with MLB (who knows if there is still a deal between GNR & MLB) and also MX records lead to old-too-old artistdirect server...
so or gunsnroses.com will at some point change or they have found a new home ... seeing they are mostly using GNR too bad gnr.com is not free, but gnr.net might be avaliable
... and some more ...
just speculation
... lets just enjoy the moment of this big day ... who cares about anything else ...

And yet - no mention on the official GNR website.

Tomorrow people hear "Chinese Democracy" on the radio and rush to WWW.GUNSNROSES.COM, only to find out theres an old pic of a drunk guy with Axl covering some old news. I hope they update the site before CD hits the waves.
We have no idea what will be on the website tomorrow. Plus; WHO GIVES A SHIT?! Chinese Democracy will be on the fucking radio tomorrow!!!!

People from the UK can help request the song by going on this link for Radio 1's Zane Lowe (Most primetime show on radio over here):

I think not having Shackler's as the first single was very smart.
I love it, don't get me wrong but CD is a much better choice.
Shackler's to me could've had a polarizing effect. People would've either loved it or truly hated it.
CD is a rocker that everyone will love or at least not hate.
I don't think CD is the best choice if the intention is to release a song that "everyone will like". I believe there are plenty of more songs that they could've gone with that could have more of a mainstream appeal. However, the choice of CD is symbolic. It's the title track of the album everyone's been waiting for. Going with CD makes more sense to me than any other song.

Exactly. The name alone makes this the choice. The name is legendary.

I wonder if TWAT and ITW will be the follow up being that they were played along with CD at the convention.

Although I thought "Better" might have been the sure fire hit to release first. I am so convinced this is the way to kick off the most anticipated album of all time. Title Track with a cool intro and kicks ass

It's been the pattern for all "hard rock" bands since the '80s 1st single is a "rocker" and the 2nd is mid-tempo or "power ballad"

I can tell you are not too pleased with Chinese Democracy as the first single's choice since you are already talking about the second one
Enjoy the ride YG!
On a side note, I don't think ITW or TWAT will be the second single. Maybe one of the songs we haven't heard or "Street of Dreams" would be my guess.
