Has Street of Dreams been confirmed as the Blues? And has song 2 been confirmed as Prostitute? Are we just guessing or is there truth to it?
It's confirmed by well informed sources.
Who?
the guy who leaked the 9 songs in june said that he knows that "song 2" "message for you" whatever people call it is prostitute because he has been accused for violating it's copyright or something
Ah ok. Cool
What about Street of Dreams?

But how do we know for sure? I know its in the lyrics but has anyone put up their hand and said yup this is 100% the blues. I don't mean one of us but someone from GN'R or Mysteron or someone like that?

I dont know anymore then anyone else around here (gnr fanbase wise)
but It must be the blues
Axl has played it at every show (if im right) with the new band, in 01/02-06/07
and It seems to be one of his favourite songs,
so it would make sense to have it on his first album,
I mean, if they are going to have IRS on chinese, it would make sense to have a song which is more liked
by the fanbase such as street of dreams/the blues...
but logic isnt the truth.. so who knows

We know for sure because its common sense. The line is in the song and its one of Axls favorite songs.

After all, before he lends his talents to others' projects, Rose has one of his own to finish, and he says it's getting there. "We're working on thirty-two songs, and twenty-six are nearly done," he says. Of those, thirteen are slated for the final album. Among Rose's favorites are "Better," "There Was a Time" and "The Blues."
http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/9155514/axl_rose_breaks_his_silence
although i think he mentioned those just like he could've mentioned any 3 other songs or maybe that at that time they were his favourites.. i have changed favourites a dozen of times
i just read this little bit in a whole new way
you know all the talks about 3 records and stuff.. and he says "
13 songs are slated for the final album
", final album means the last, not the first

Street of Dreams...
... Well, maybe, right... Just maybe, Street of Dreams is Part I of a new trilogy!
Because the Street of Dreams from The Blues sure ain't feeling like a Street of Dreams no more! So maybe The Blues is the more the more solemn sequel to Street of Dreams?
You feeling me? No? Whatever.

Something totally off topic...was reading the Mark Canter book and some stripper from the 80's said she was hanging out with Axl (Pre-Appetite release era), and he played Novermber Rain for her and told her he wrote it when he was 15 years old!!!
Dude, I always knew he was a lyrical mastermind, but that is fn' insane.
CD will prove who really is (and was) the heart of GNR.
Axl's status will be cemented in time forever as one of the greatest frontmen upon release.
Axl was playing a lot of Piano back then. A lot of songs he had written before GNR even became a band.
All those songs sounded dated when they were released. Those songs sucked back then.
Guns N Roses have never released anything that sounds "dated." That is one of the reasons why they are great...their music stands the test of time. All of GNR songs are still in heavy rotation here in the NYC area on 92.3 K Rock. You can not go 1 hour without hearing a GNR song...and none of it sounds dated...
When you're getting a tongue lashing from the oldest guy on the board, you know you're wrong.
When I first heard Jungle, I thought it was a new song. When I researched it, I was blown away that it was a song from 1987.
My mom who is almost 60 has become a fan of the band. She will probably take in a GN'R show the next time they play.
I've gotten lots of people from college into GN'R, new and old songs, and they love 'em.
When a song is good, it's good! Doesn't matter when it was written or released.
I THINK Bruno was joking when he said NR, DC, etc. sounded dated when they came out. I THINK he was being sarcastic and pointing out how ridiculous all the people sound when they complain about the current songs not being as new as they'd like them to be. That's how I took that comment. At least I hope that's what he meant, otherwise that's a crazy statement.

Street of Dreams is probably the blues... 80% chance of it.
Song #2 is Prostitute IMO.
the lyrics go with what a prostitute is, and it was said by the leaker that it is also i believe.
So we have 3 new tracks to look forward to

Maybe I'm taking your words too literally, but we have a lot more to look forward than 3 new tracks. That's reducing this accomplishment quite a bit.

I guess people are quoting Blueheart, adm from chinesedemocracy.com:
BLUEHEART: so here are few notes about the album.
1. It is true that the album is coming out on 23rd of November.
2. An official announcement will be made soon directly from Axl.
3. The artwork we've seen listed on bestbuy.com is the official CD cover
4. The tracklist is legit but the songs won't be on disc with this order.
5. The album will be released worldwide the same day but it might hit the stores in some areas the next day
6. Street Of Dreams is confirmed as The blues
7. The final tracklist of CD is the following:
- Chinese Democracy
- Shackler's Revenge
- Better
- Street Of Dreams
- If The World
- There Was A Time
- Catcher In The Rye
- Scraped
- Riad N' The Bedouins
- Sorry
- I.R.S.
- Madagascar
- This I Love
- Prostitute

I'm sure Bruno was being sarcastic, lol.
And for those assuming the NR demo was too raw, what about the Don't Cry one?

But how do we know for sure? I know its in the lyrics but has anyone put up their hand and said yup this is 100% the blues. I don't mean one of us but someone from GN'R or Mysteron or someone like that?
Who is this credible source people are speaking of that apparently knows whats doing?
- Prostitute
more updates to come soon

Ok.... We know who mysteron is. So who is Blueheart?
She's an admin at CD.com. Apparently she's "in the know".

It is going to be cool to be hearing new GNR songs on the radio. Definitely looking forward to that. Going to be A LOT of haters out there though
As far as the NR/DC songs were "old" but still amazing - yeah, those are truly amazing songs. Be hard pressed to find many guns fans who don't like those songs or think they are over rated.
Personally, I don't feel that way about any of the CD tracks. maybe TWAT. The rest of them don't have that timeless sound to them that all of the biggest GNR songs do (to my ears at least).
Songs like SCOM and PC transcend peoples taste in music - people who only love shitty pop music or indie bands still get pumped up at a bar when the intro to jungle comes on. I just don't see that happening with a song like Better.
If I'm disappointed about the lack of "new" songs on CD, its more so b/c the songs that I've already heard are for the most part, just kind of "meh". I was hoping for more "big guns". its not a question of having heard them already or not - i'd feel the same way on 11/25 after listening to the album.

If The World is the type of song that people who only love shitty pop music can get into. It, as you say, "transcends taste in music"!

I THINK Bruno was joking when he said NR, DC, etc. sounded dated when they came out. I THINK he was being sarcastic and pointing out how ridiculous all the people sound when they complain about the current songs not being as new as they'd like them to be. That's how I took that comment.
