My band+ drum questions

Have a listen to my band! comments would be much appreciated -

also, i kind of want a velvet revolver drum sound but have no clue about how to tune my drums/get a good sound out of them; recorded included.. i can just play them...

any tips? i have a standard pearl export with you average white evans heads on them (fairly new), except some clear evans head on the snare.. as u can hear the drums are pretty lame sounding..

how should i tune them is my main quesion. i have O rings, but i dont particularly want to use them..

Do you use moongel (you know the gooye gel stuff you can stick on...) on the snare and toms?

I use them to sort of avoid those tiny vibrations and get a "clearer" more presise sound.

Not sure if I'm suggesting something here you allready know....

to be honest Moongel is ok but it can lead to your drums getting messy. Easier & cheaper alternative is to get a piece of A4 paper and some duck tape it to the top right of your snare. It's a nice money saver and you will hear the difference straight away!

hmm yeah thats okay; i've tried it before, my snares okay i think, i tighten the shit out of it etc. I'm more worried about my bass drum and toms, esp my floor tom. sounds like shit; dont know how to get a good sound out of them

I think you should let your snare breathe more, and maybe put a mic on the front of the kick to get some sort of click out of it...

I've played drums for 18 years (off and on) and was never able to tune my drums at all, So I bought a Drum Dial for $60 bucks.
Now I can tune my Drums anytime. Simply lay the Dial on the drumhead over the lug and turn the key. It's that simple.

^ Yes it does tune the resonant head. You can pick any pitch you want. It gives you a recommended setting for most Drums. But,
you can choose which ever pitch you want. Yeah, I sound like a professional Drum Tuner now. With This You can tune any Drum.
