Sorry, but Best Buy really screwed up on this one.

I have yet to see this "monumental campaign" that Best Buy is supposedly in charge of; to have ZERO mention of this album two weeks before the release should have the GN'R team pissed off beyond belief.

 Last week's flyer promoted the record but had the earlier cover shown (minus the "GN'R" logo), and listed the disc for an 11/25 release date. This week, nothing. Instead, it is focusing on The Police's live DVD.

Best Buy is not doing a good job at all getting the word out about Chinese Democracy's impending release. I've yet to see a TV ad in my area either, despite Boston being the 6th largest TV market in America. I'd say that probably only 75% of the people in the United States know the record is coming, based on those who follow the daily GN'R news here and those who have heard the single on the radio.

Best Buy had better get it's shit together and push the hell out this record between now and 11/23.

Do not know if the promotion details of Walmart and AC/DC were mentioned already. 
Not only is there a display in electronics but also one in clothing (T.shirts/etc) and even the pet aisle has pet accessories with AC/DC branding are for sale.

I do not know if GNR's deal with Best but includes more than music but to be fair we still have 2 weeks for displays and such to start appearing.

Based on the way the single has already skyrocketed up the iTunes charts I think it's safe to say that a lot more than the hardcores know about CD

That said, I expect that the marketing will be ramped up in the next week or so

Can someone help ? I have not even heard of best buy in Australia let alone seen an outlet for it ?
Does anyone know what outlets will be selling CD or do I have to order it online ?

I tried seaching this forum for answers but was informed that 'I am not allowed to search this forum'

I emailed Bestbuy yesterday to possably get a list of midnight release locations and was disappointed to get this message!! I think we need to start making some calls to our local stores!!

Thank you for emailing us at Best Buy.  I would be happy to answer any questions.  I checked within our system and I don't see any mentioning of a midnight release for the new Guns N' Roses album.  Usually if there is a midnight release it is for an upcoming release of a video game or PC software game.  If there is anything to be planned for the release it will be advertised on BestBuy.com along with a list of the participating store locations.  I would keep an eye out for any upcoming advertisements on BestBuy.com for the album.

I honestly don't see the big deal with a midnight release. Its released on a sunday so its not like most people will be at work and unable to get to the store right when it opens at 9-10am. We've waited all these years for this is an extra 9-10 hrs all that terrible?

Completely agree.  Like someone else said in this thread, why would they need to have a midnight release?  Whether it's Saturday night, or Sunday morning, the only place you're going to be able to buy the album is at Best Buy.  They're not competing with anyone else's business on this.  The people that'd buy it on Saturday at Best Buy are the same people that'd buy it on Sunday.......at Best Buy.

I'm not counting on BestBuy for a midnight release. Everyone's selling it here in Canada so I'll hopefully be able to get it at HMV at midnight. They always do something special for these big releases. My only concern is making it to the store somehow if I've had a few beers, especially during the Calgary / Detroit game!
