$11.99 on sale now?  Good or bad sign?

I don't know but shouldn't my existing pre-order drop to this amount as well?

Also, when I preordered, I had to pay for shipping.

However, I believe that the card isn't charged until it's shipped. SO, that should mean, they will just charge less when it ships Smiley .... right?

At least that's what I'm telling myself.....

Did anyone receive an email from Best Buy asking to take a store survey? I'm looking over my emails now and apparently
Best Buy sent an email to my account asking me to fill out a store survey as a result of picking up Chinese Democracy
at the store. I find it odd since CD hasn't been released yet.

They could of course use the midnight opening as a marketing tool "The fans waited 15 years for this day - we wouldn't make them wait a second longer than they had to......" type thing with rioting and police cars commentry on the promotional material.

I called them and they dropped my shipping charges off my order. I double checked pricing while I was on the phone and they said that you'll be charged the price of the item when it ships. So if the album is priced $9.99 or something like that on the day of release, that's why they'll charge you.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but, while I'm sure we'd enjoy a midnight release, what's in it for Best Buy? Isn't the whole point of a midnight release to beat the other stores to the punch? In this case, there are no other stores. So it's kind of pointless, isn't it?

Sometimes.

Sometimes it's about "the hype", and getting yourself some good press.  This would likely accomplish that, and do some album promotion as well.

Sorry to ask again but got no answer.  Is it just the one version of the cd and vinyl or are there still alternatives.

Thanks in advance

Right now, it just looks like one cover for both.

AC/DC sales are a scam. Most of those sales are guaranteed from Wal Mart, so it's Wal Mart's internals buying a certain % each week until their guarantee is reached.  Look at the Eagles sales, same thing.  If you really think The Eagles sold 8 million on their own,  you need to lay off the Kool Aid kiddo.

Black Betty that's not how it works. Walmart had to buy over two millon copies to sell, but those do not count in the total sales. Only albums sold to customers. Yes, the Eagles really did sell 8 million copies on their own.

I think what BB is getting at is that Wal-Mart has people buying the albums off the shelves to falsify the numbers sold to customers.

I couldn't begin to tell you if that's what's happening, I just think that's what she's getting at.

They have sold 4 million actually, but since it's a double disc album, it counts as 8.

But you knew that!

You're talking about status/charting.  I think the way it worked was the total number that ships to the retailer (Best Bury/Wal-Mart) counts toward record statue i.e gold, platinum, etc. whereas the billboard rankings are based on the number actually sold to customers.  I don't know about the Eagles (and maybe I have had the Kool-aid   Lips Sealed), but I don't think Wal-Mart would buy that many copies if they couldn't sell them (they didn't take over the world by being stupid), so how did it do in the charts?

on www.hitsdailydouble.com we have official confirmatiom too
but there we have too,a number of copies which sold gnr last album "greatest hits",and we can find that GH was sold in more than 4m copies.
As we know gnr sold only 169000 copies in a first week, but later album made 4 time platinum.
For example acdc album sold 800000 copies in first week, but i'm sure after 4 years they won't sold more than 3 m copies.

Billboard only reports actuall sales and no those 800.000 are not a scam and the Eagles didnot sell 8 million copies, they are certified 3 times platinum.

Dude it was certified triple platinum by the end of last year after 5 weeks:

http://www.reuters.com/article/pressRelease/idUS209441+12-Dec-2007+BW20071212

The number sold by now is much closer to that 8 million (like 5.9 million to date according to wikipedia).

No it ain't:

http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/search/google/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003855688

The album has sold 3.1 million, since it's a double album most news outlets report the double amount (which is common).
