Chinese Democracy is #1 on Best Buys best seller list...the pre-orders are out selling CDs that are already out.

Both CD and Vinyl  are #1 - click under format on the left...

Those are all very fair points, but I'm still optimistic that they will do a midnight release for this album, primarily because it's an exclusive for them.  While video games bring in a lot more money per copy sold, they also have a smaller potential consumer base.

In any case, the best way to make it happen is to let Best Buy know that we want a midnight release and will be there if it happens!  ok

Fallout 3 does look sick, but after being a huge fan of Morrowind, and being disappointed by Oblivion, I'm gonna wait for the review before I pick it up.

I did just that...sent an email off to their Consumer relations department.  The more responses they get, I agree, the more likely we'll see it.

I liked Oblivion..but I admit I liked Morrowind more. Smiley

I played the original Fallout's, back on PC (actually, I still have them).  I'm just hopeful this incarnation is NEARLY as good.

Honestly, if a midnight release happens, it more than likely won't be every store.

You'd probably see select stores in very big markets do it, such as some, but not all, of the NYC, LA and the like stores.

I remember here around DC, they did midnight release for a video game, but only certain stores were in on it.

Cool, I sent off an e-mail too.

Never played the original Fallouts, but I know they're classics.  I'm very hopeful for Fallout 3.  I'd say more, but unfortunately, this isn't the "video game erection" thread.  Grin

I agree, GunnerOne, if it happens, it'll probably only be in select stores.  Nevertheless, it would be a press worthy item, and I can't think of a better time to listen to Chinese Democracy for the first time than after having a few cold ones at a bar in the evening.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but, while I'm sure we'd enjoy a midnight release, what's in it for Best Buy? Isn't the whole point of a midnight release to beat the other stores to the punch? In this case, there are no other stores. So it's kind of pointless, isn't it?

That's a good point.

The only reason could be more publicity?

You know, it would be an even bigger event if stores opened earlier.

Of course it would be, but BB may not do it because of the extra costs it will have to incur to stay open late. They are gonna get the same sales regardless, so I don't think they will do the midnight thing, but I hope they will...

The original point is a good one, but extra publicity would mean more copies sold.  It just increases the chances of people being made aware of the album, and getting more excited about it's releases.

Well, maybe, but....the die-hards are gonna get it the first day no matter what..midnight or the next day. For BB to get all of its stores open at midnight would be a major cost and those costs probably would more than outweigh the extra copies they may sell because of the midnight PR.....My best guess is that BB won't stay open late.

True...  you might be right.  I'm still hopeful for a midnight release in any case!

new arrivals at best buy are typically $9.99.   But it looks like they are getting a good amount of pre-orders.

Since it's the #1 music pre-order I'd say it's not bad. This only have more people buying it...(Not that two bucks should really stop anyone from buying a CD)
