No, that's just the department that is going to carry the album

its just the department code. media represents everything from cds to dvds, so it means to stock it in the video/compact disc section of the store.

You can assume there are differences between the versions though. What they are.. who knows..

1 disc per album packaging. 30 discs per master box.

anything less than 30 will represent a jewel case or box packaging larger than the standard. hence a deluxe edition.

I found this on the "Countown to Chinese Democracy" Facebook group so take it for what its worth.

"Best Buy has it in their computer as 11/25/08. i saw it today when i went in cause i asked them to look it up when i heard it was in their system. there were 6 chinese democracy's listed by guns n roses, versions 1-3. the first set of version 1-3 was priced at $13.99 the second set was priced at $19.99"

This is a rumour going around a number of GNR forums. A few people who have called into different stores appear to have obtained similar information.

Apparently there MAY be three CD editions of the album, with alternate artwork, extra discs etc, and likewise three different VINYL versions of the album

Again this is all just rumour. Nothing confirmed.

I've seen this at Best Buy as well. The clerk showed me the listings in the system. There are three different SKU's for $13.99, and another three SKU's at $19.99. Definitely not a rumor, I saw it with my own eyes.

I tend to believe we're getting three CD's at the $13.99 price, and CD's with a bonus disc at the $19.99 price.

I may be in the minority in thinking Axl's going to drop three CD's of new material at once, but who would buy three discs if they all had the same content?

As I first mentioned earlier, it really makes a lot of sense to drop all 3 now....We shall see....

its an up hill battle to get money out of a record now, and to divide the market amongst 3 different albums? i mean, people like me or you might buy all of them, but the people they want to get the attention of, the casual listener, might not care to try all three and instead will get maybe one and download the rest.

the first week of sales always has to be a big one. in the age of downloading things can drop off fast after that.

release an album with your 12 to 15 strongest ones, and hold the rest off to be polished off after a tour and put out within an year or two down the line to keep yourself relevant again.

I am sticking to my guns (pun intended)....the manager I spoke with at Best Buy two weeks ago attended the convention....she said Chinese Democracy is going to be three discs.
