See though, this is a big misconception.

The label made tons of cash from Greatest Hits, but they don't put that in their books as profit for CD as it is a totally seperate product.

For them, CD is still 13 million in the red.


Greatest Hits was a project independent of its own and if CD loses them 10 million, they aren't gonna say, well we made all of this from GH so we are ok.

no, it would still go down as a loss.

So they, in their mind, like any business are still 13 million in the hole with CD

An exclusive Deal eliminates that hole and gives them profit.

I found this on the "Countown to Chinese Democracy" Facebook group so take it for what its worth.

"Best Buy has it in their computer as 11/25/08. i saw it today when i went in cause i asked them to look it up when i heard it was in their system. there were 6 chinese democracy's listed by guns n roses, versions 1-3. the first set of version 1-3 was priced at $13.99 the second set was priced at $19.99"

This is a rumour going around a number of GNR forums. A few people who have called into different stores appear to have obtained similar information.

Apparently there MAY be three CD editions of the album, with alternate artwork, extra discs etc, and likewise three different VINYL versions of the album

Again this is all just rumour. Nothing confirmed.

I agree it isn't CD profit. I still believe the only reason it was released was to make some of the money back that GNR had cost them though.

It's Best Buy's internal stock/inventory called RSS or something like that. It's showing you Chinese Democracy is in their system with the release date, waiting to receive stock from their supplier.

used to work at besbuy.

am familiar with rss, and this is indeed an rss screen.

pay not attention to the sale begin and end dates. until there is product on the move they mean nothing.

also, i still have friends at the store that have confirmed that word in the store is that it will be there next month. it will be an exclusive, and there are several skus.

but also, having worked at bestbuy, there are several skus for a lot of products, so six skus do not mean six versions. id most likely say two or three.

I wouldn't be surprised if the album cover leaked.  You'd think they'd have some design pretty close to being finalized and someone probably sneaked it out.  All you need is a thumb drive and a jpeg image.
