Best Buy exclusive

There is just way too much buzz going around for this album to not be a success. People can say shit all they want and trash talk Axl... those are the same motherfuckers that are gonna be singing along to Better once it his radio and will still probably buy the record. Assholes...  

To be honest, I don't give a shit if the album is succesful or not and how many times it has been bought etc... (that's worrying part for the record company)
What I care of is, is that the album is GOOD, it ROCKS and that it MOVES me.

Just got back from buying Casino & The Shining on Blu Ray at Best Buy and ofcourse had to ask...

Something interesting is that the listings say "BBY Version" after each of them. So I would imagine that those who have thought the Best Buy exclusive would be limited and a different version would be made available elsewhere later are probably right.

Also, the more expensive versions do in fact say "LP" before the title. That's very good news for me.

Earlier tonight I confirmed all the rumors that have been swirling around the internet recently.  I went into the local FYE at the mall I work at.  Asked the guy behind the register if he had heard anything about the new GnR album.  He gets this pissy look on his face and says "yeah, but its an exclusive at another store".  I ask him if its just stuff he heard from the rumor mill or if its been confirmed by his corporate office.  To my amazement, he says "yeah from our corporate offices".  He goes to the computer and starts accessing his email system.  After a few seconds he finds the email he's looking for.  As soon as he did, I basically commandeered the damn computer terminal.  The letter was pretty much as follows:

"Guns N' Roses' long awaited album chinese democracy will be coming out this year.  Unfortunately for us, it is a Best Buy exclusive.  It is set for later part of November, before thanksgiving."

While I think this Best Buy deal is great for the band, I do feel for the record chains and independent stores that miss out.  They could really use the sales right now.

I still don't believe it untill I hear something official from the band.
I was teased for a release to many times in the past, so for me this is just another rumor!

Although, to be a bit more excited: this rumor does sound more realistic than all the others, so let's hope for the best. And, if the release will finally occur, I hope the album kicks ass!! Because, I'm afraid the expectations from alot of people will be so big that it will have to be an fucking amazing album for critics to be only a 'bit' positive. That's also normal to my feeling, if you work 15 years on an album....
I would also be very dissapointed when the album finally sees the daylight and it then turns out to be one shitty album....oh no, I may not think of that. So LET's HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!!

    

I agree. I'm hopeful, but I'm not getting excited yet. Not until I see something on GNR's official site. I don't see the point of getting excited until that point.

I do think the exclusive thing is kinda shitty. For all the "small town white boys" out there that don't have a Best Buy, it's crap. I mean, look at all the market that you're missing out on by putting it exclusively in one place. And it's not like Walmart, where there's one on every corner. I so wanted to buy it from my local record shop, but alias, it appears that's not to be ...

I think the consensus has been that it's going to be 3 different versions of the same album.  Either different bonus tracks or or different covers or something.

just a thought, but maybe best buy will get an exclusive *version* of CD? like a special cover, maybe bonus tracks, etc. and they will get it before anyone else.

that doesn't make it an exlusive album then... just an exclusive edition. if all the reports are true than you're wrong.

Why shoot your load all at once!

Release 3 albums at once your gunna have to reduce the price of each individual album in order to sell a shit load of copies. The general public are not gunna spend ?30-?40 on gnrs new albums in one go! Makes more sense to offer a staggered release over the next few years to generate repeat sales and just offer limited editions of each album etc.. The record company will be looking to get maximum returns on these bad boys, and i dont think they will do that if they release all at once.

3 different versions of the same album would make more sense - a special ltd ed album with best buy on the week of release, available later at other stores also makes sense.

On another point - the website thing as someone said earlier, i think the lack of info on body of lies may be as a result of a new site being launched / gnr.com being overhauled. Indeed if this album is going to come out, that site simply has to be updated - 2006 background???

I also think that if this is legit, which i happen to believe it may well be (says with caution given the past few years) then we will hear something in the next week or two. Fingers crossed!

I just called Best Buy's # on their website, and the guy said that there nothing at all in there system.  He said that if the 23rd is the release, then it could get added up to right before it .....

I won't say it's shitty because it was the only way GNR and the label were gonna recoup any money on this thing.  I wouldn't say they're missing out on any markets.  You can always order it online.  However, I wanted to buy it at the local record shop too...I'm trying to help them stay in business.
