the album needs no months in the making promotion. the most anticipated record in music history... think that says it all. i think we can go thru october without hearing a mumble from the band. i wouldn't be surprised.

It feels so good to be a GN'R fan these days... One that stuck with the band through all the fuckin shit...

i dont think it feels great yet..... the wheels are just starting to turn, very slowly. as soon as we have a single, a video, an album and some interviews...we can all bask in what it feels like to support a productive band. Personally i cant wait for that to happen...

Yeah thats right on. Some decent promotion would only be respectful but they could release the album overnight and consider the kind of response it would get.

Wont happen, Axl said so himself in his open letter of december 15, 2006:

The band and I, along with our record company, feel that this record deserves the proper setup and promotion, not the ?13 Tuesdays left? and ?It may just appear in your record store? approach offered by management. We believe this strategy may have been used as a tool by management to sell this latest tour to the various promoters, and if this was the case, this was obviously unfair to them. The stress of dealing with this situation has been considerable for everyone, including the band, but more important, in our opinion, it was something utterly insane to do to our fans.

I don't know, for some reason I'm thinking early 09 for CD.  Even if it is the most anticipated album in history, they wouldn't spring it on us and say "surprise!"  Axl's style of late seems to be dropping songs and having it mentioned by other sources.  These two songs certainly are generating a lot of discussion and this is the closest to CD we've been yet.  Right now, he's priming the pump and then (hopefully) it'll drop.

I see your point but when the Best Buy announcement was made three (or four depending on the source) new GN'R songs were played to the employees. So we can be sure there are plans to release the album in the near future. But you're right, we didn't get a confirmation so nothing is cast in stone. There's no release date as yet but there's a good chance the album is coming "soon".

The "News" on GnR's site is still them commenting about the arrest of the Leaker;  these rumors sound good but with this band, I'll wait for some official confirmation before I get too excited

I think with all the rumours surrounding Best Buy and the informatin (whether intentional or not)
I would say it is basically a done deal,

But Im more interested in the promotion for the new song "if the world" which will be in the body of lies movie,in less then 1 week from today (in australian time)
So it would be good to hear from the gnr camp regarding this (hopefully something on their site).
