I called best buys in my area (louisville) who have no clue about it, but a couple in New York knew EXACTLY what I was talking about.  They said other people have been calling as well, lol.  I'm starting to REALLY believe, even though I've told everyone I know already!! CDSN....

All this info is great but I'd still rather hear it from the band, it is their achievement and now instead of being their good news, it's just their confirmation.

 Cheesy

Fall Out Boy Postpone New Album
October 14th, 2008

Bassit Pete Wentz announced in a seperate post that they will now release the album on December 16 saying, ?Though this is not the date we had originally planned nor the optimal date according some demographic marketing analysis, we put our eight feet down told our label it must come out this year.  We?re already bummed enough that Chinese Democracy is gonna beat us to release.?

As much as I dislike Fallout Boy, thats a pretty funny and cool shout out, as I know Pete Wentz is a fan of GN'R.

The website hasn't updated anything these days. They didn't mention a thing about "Body of Lies" and the song is there, so...

I would have thought the band would want to beat everyone else to the punch when it comes to CD official release date.  Well, tomorrow is 40 days til Sun Nov 23!

this is too good to be true. i can't even believe it!

but it's scary at the same time. i've been waiting religiously for this cd for more than 8 years now... and the wait is a big part of my life.

the cd coming out may change everything i've known for the last decade... scary!

Looks like I was correct.  No announcement and you won't see one for a while.  The album will sell well if the music is up to par, so I am not really concerned about the promotion.  I am a little disappointed in how lethargically Axl has gone along with the entire process.  He's not what you would call a "workaholic"...

I was just having a similar discussion with a friend of mine yesterday.  UYI came out in September of 1991 - seventeen years ago.  The day after it came out, I began anxiously awaiting the next album (of original material) from GN'R.  I'm now 32.  32-17=15.  If my math is right, I've been waiting for Chinese Democracy for over half my life.  To think that it'll be in-hand in less than two months...well, I just don't know if I'm equipped to process that.

There's a tiny part of me that hopes it drags out yet again, just so I can have the comfort of continuing what began 17 years ago.  But, a much larger part of me just can't wait to stand in that Best Buy aisle, holding CD in my hand, looking at the artwork, the tracklist.  The only wait that comes close would be the sixteen years between Star Wars movies or the nineteen between Indiana Joneses.  I think I'm safe in saying, though, that Axl couldn't possibly screw things up as bad as those two did.  Smiley

I read the other day that somebody in France found a long-lost copy of a Mozart melody in the basement of a library.  While I'm not comparing the two as artists, I have a feeling I'll understand how the Mozart scholar felt when that scrap of paper was finally handed to him.  Just when he resigned himself to having seen it all, here comes the surprise he never expected to hold in his hands.

We're only weeks away, folks.  Break out the aged Scotch, the smuggled Cubans, or just your favorite brew.  Bill Bailey is on the brink of making good on the IOU he handed us all two decades ago.

I've been expecting this album since the late 1990's so when it actually happened it will be a memorable date in my life.

"OK, nevermind"

« Reply #1257 on: October 13, 2008, 11:09:24 PM »

I was thinking one thing today.
gunsnroses.com has not been update to coment about Body of Lies nor to deny or confirm the Best Buy deal and the supposed release date. As many here have stated, other small or insignificant rumours (such as the reality show, Robin leaving, Kevin's arrest) or big rumours (like Shackler's debut on Rock Band) all have been replyed to.

Could it be that the silence on the website now - beside the wait for a 100%-guarantee-set-on-stone-release-date) - is due to a big change on gunsnroses.com? Like a brand new, up to date, full of content website, displayng news, profiles, videos, audio samples, etc?

This is fantastic news!  Cheesy

I'm really happy things seem to be finally happening for the band (with regards to the album). After 10yrs or so of logging on I can't believe its finally starting to happen.

Best of luck to the band and I really hope the release proceeds as planned.

I do hope that there is some supporting PR though. Axl is still one of the greatest personalities in Rock and its a shame we don't get to hear or see him more often. I would love to hear him talk about the album - just a track by track low down would be pretty cool.

I like your logic. I've been presuming the same thing.  I think this is very possible, mere speculation by us but I believe a change may be emminent.
